Page 77/365 : Letter and Farewell Rovers

Today I dug out the good paper at work and did my letter to the Queen as promised. In it I put that I had written twenty years before and still have and cherish the letter I received back. Also that I loved last night’s documentary and the insight into her life in 2012. I also commended her on the length of marriage to the Duke and that I only hope Elle and I have an equally fantastic marriage.

I even went online to find out the formal way to address the letter and how to finish it off. It starts with Dear Madam and ends with “‘I have the honour to be, Madam, Your Majesty’s humble and obedient servant” which I put also.

And here’s the finished letter all ready to be sent :

It went out in tonight’s post so fingers crossed for a reply…watch this space.

Slimming World tonight, and after last week’s massive gain, the 12.5lb over the three weeks, I knew I had been relatively good this week and it showed on the scales with a cool 6.5lb loss. I have said I am going to aim for 7 next week…fingers crosse people!

Tonight, TV witnessed the death of a legend…The Rovers Return burnt down in Coronation Street. An absolute legend in TV history, set ablaze by the dastardly Carl, whilst Stella bathed upstairs and Sunita lay dying in the smoke. Meanwhile, as all this was going on, most of the male cast were stripping in the Bistro, just another normal day on the cobbles.

One thing I was very disappointed with though was he fact that the episode didn’t have Stalwart Ken Barlow in it. This was very much a surprise as he is the longest serving member of the cast and I would’ve thought he would’ve been there for the demise of his favourite local! There must’ve been a reason he wasn’t.

Will Sunita die? Will Stella bite the dust? We’ll have to tune in on Wednesday to find out! Damn TV people leaving everything on a cliffhanger…!

Page 76/365 – The Queen

Started off the day being totally lazy and not actually getting out of my Lounge pants all day.

We watched loads of CSI.

But today was only about one programme…and that was “Our Queen” on ITV HD tonight. This, the first proper documentary with proper access to Her Majesty to be made in over 20 years, followed a year in the life of Our Queen. The added advantage of this was that it was 2012…a year chock full of patriotic goodness, from the extravagant Golden Jubilee weekend, through to the Olympics which captured everyone’s hearts.

It’s safe to say that 2012 was the year I was most proud to be British.

The Queen’s 60 year tenure on the throne has been a historical one. But one thing I always tend to feel sad about when I think about the monarchy is that first day or so…you’ve just had your father/mother pass away and all of a sudden, you’re in charge of the country…it must be a very strange experience.

The British monarchy can get a lot of stick, but I think it’s one of the most traditional and heartwarming things about our national and long may it be the case.

The documentary was a good intimate look into the life of The Queen. We saw her cushion in Balmoral which says simply “Its good to be Queen” and also the reaction of people close to her following that moment at the Olympics when she stunned us all by appearing in a scene with James Bond!

When the last documentary was on, I was around ten years old…I wrote a letter to Buckingham Palace and received a reply a few weeks later from one of the ladies in waiting at the palace and it was fantastic. Tomorrow, I will write another letter about this one and see if I can get another reply…

Long Live The Queen!

Page 75/365 : White and Noir

Early kickoff today for the Leeds game (bear with me people, this while blog ain’t about Leeds United)

My Dad came to the game with me.

20130317-005537.jpg

It was the Paint It White campaign today. I didn’t win any of the free flights they were giving away however! Boo!

The match was pretty much shit and kinda summed up our entire season. It was a frustrating game but likewise one we could’ve won. But it wasn’t to be. Huddersfield opened the scoring in the second half following a bit of questionable defending. We managed to equalise with Aidy White’s first touch but three minutes from time we threw it all away when we let them in again for a winner!

After the game, had an email through about Woollin Mammoth, our Geocache Trackable that started out his life in Middleton Park, moved around Leeds a little bit, then ended up in Brentford…only to turn up today in Nova Scotia in Canada!!! That’s some journey he’s embarked upon.

Watched the USA lose to Puerto Rico in the baseball. Oops!

Also played tonnes of LA Noire and finally made it onto the third disk! Won’t be long before its completed…hopefully.

Hoping to have a mega quiet day tomorrow with tonnes of CSI being watched! Fingers crossed.

Page 74/365 : Comic Relief

Well today was Comic Relief day and as such it was dress down day at work. As I literally have no shame, I wore this into the office :

20130316-011644.jpg

Just a shame it didn’t have a cape really…!

Was a good laugh being in work dressed up…although going to the toilet was fun…

Loads of buns and cakes were on sale too so naturally I had to have a couple.

Tonight Elle was working on the phones at First Direct, taking some Comic Relief calls. I managed to get a good few hours in on LA Noire on the Xbox. Not played it for a while but really wanna get to the end of it so I can justify buying Tomb Raider.

Watched some of Comic Relief too. I have to say, I recorded it all and watched all the funny bits and fast forwarded all the stories of the children. It’s not that I don’t care, but I have given my charity money over earlier today in the cake sale so the videos won’t be enticing me into anything else.

The comedy was fun though. Particular highlights were Simon Cowell’s wedding, Rowan Atkinson’s highly inappropriate section and the Masterchef.

Found out today that on Sunday there’s a documentary on about The Queen. It was over 20 years since the last one was on, and when it was (and I was 11) I wrote a letter to Buckingham Palace to tell The Queen how much I enjoyed it. I got a letter back from the Palace from one of the ladies in waiting. I am going to hand-write another letter on Sunday and send it and see if I can get another one. Hehe.

Page 73/375 : Steak and…erm…Cheap Ticket Day

Still proper sticking to the diet. Had an amazing Chilli for tea because we had no Steak in…BOOOOOO! The chilli was one of the best ever though!

Ticket prices released today for early renewals for next season and they’ve dropped the prices, which is really good for everyone and I think will go down really well amongst fans. I can’t remember them dropping that much in a long time!

Decided to finally break in the Baseball Glove I had bought tonight. Vaseline’d it all up and it’s now currently sat downstairs tied up in an attempt to form the pocket. Going to have to give it some hammer over the next few weeks to get it worn in if I am going to have any chance of using it effectively to catch a foul ball at the Dodgers game.

Finally caught up fully with The Following and I am seriously loving it.

Looking forward to a good few hours on the Xbox tomorrow night whilst Elle is doing her Charity thing at work for Comic Relief. I will probably Sky+ the Comic Relief show so I can fast forward all the son stories and just watch the Newsreaders dancing to something silly dressed in something equally absurd. Ah, good old Comic Relief…!

Latest world news was that a new Pope was elected, sworn in, chosen. Firstly he looks like Jim Bowen of Bullseye fame, and secondly, when it was said that he was from Buenos Aires, my very first thought was “oh, I wonder if he’s been around the Total Wipeout course…?”

Page 72/365 : Bagged a bag

Had a nice little surprise tonight when checking emails to find out I had won a prize on the Coke Zone points competitions…for a split second I got rather giddy at the prospect of a complete home entertainment system or indeed a games console…then I found out I had won this :

20130313-212112.jpg

A fucking bag!

Ah well, waste not, want not! I think it goes with my eyes to be fair…

Realised today that people are actually reading my blog…when the hell did that happen…and more importantly…why? I reckon most of this garbage is pretty mundane but if you like it, why the hell not…in fact, I might even give you all a bit of a treat in the coming weeks when I do a few blogs about the different TV shows I have appeared on over the years and talk about the fun things that went on whilst filming…or maybe not…What do you think? Would anyone care about what went on in the Hotel whilst filming Deal Or No Deal? Would anyone be bothered about how Dick N Dom were when filming Are You Smarter Than A Ten Year Old? Does anyone truly give a shit about how I felt like I was going to die whilst throwing myself around the Total Wipeout course in Argentina? Leave a comment below and let me know.

So I caught up with a few programmes too tonight.

Finally got to the end of Monday Night Raw. I thought the show on a whole was fantastic and it included a lovely tribute to Paul Bearer, which I am not ashamed to admit, had me in tears. They also played up CM Punk’s Heel role massively which works really well for his character.

One thing I was disappointed about though was the amount of Movie trailers there were in the show…at some points it actually felt like an entire showreel of all the upcoming films which have the slightest glimpse of a WWE Superstar in it…diid they promote the films as much back in the day of Hulk Hogan? I can’t remember.

Also finally got to the end of Sunday night’s Baseball game with USA Vs Canada. It was a cracking ball game to be fair and could have gone either way We really need to get into the game before we go to America on Honeymoon and see the Dodgers.

Amy & Tom came around tonight and Elle cooked Lasagne and wedges for tea…which seemed to take forever to be ready…we were all literally wasting away…but we got fed in the end and all was right in the world.

Attempted some more of my White House jigsaw…realised it was too hard…stopped after about 5 minutes.

So, seeing as people are reading this, feel free to leave comments and say Hi…and if you’re really that interested, follow me on Twitter @FameAsser

Speak tomorrow!

Page 71/365 – The Tuesday Night Curse

Oh the joys of being a Leeds fan, standing out in the freezing cold watching a match that we didn’t play particularly well in. The first half was diabolical and we were on the back foot for most of it. Peterborough closed us down early and we didn’t pressure them enough. It was the same old story that we see all too often. What made it worse was that Brighton lost tonight too so the three points would have really come in handy.

As it was, a goal for them in the first half pegged us back and it wasn’t until Byram scored in the second half for the equaliser that we really came to life but the second goal to seal the three points just eluded us.

A rather frustrating night of football…can’t wait for the next one…!

Page 70/365 : You Fat B*stard! You Fat B*stard

Back to work after the weekend…the third weekend in a row of eating and drinking whatever I wanted and not caring about it, which was starting to take its toll on my waistline.

I knew I had been bad and I knew the scales were going to rip me for it tonight at Fat Class…and they did!

Managed to pile on 12.5lb in three weeks. Gotta have a massive push now to shift that plus some more in TW next 5 weeks before the wedding, because let’s face it, after the wedding on Honeymoon there’s going to be some serious weight put back on so I need to lose it now to stop it going on top!

Watched another couple of episodes of The Following. We’ll soon be up to date!

Did have an interesting shopping trip to Morrisons tonight and saw this cracking deal :

Page 69/365 : Heehee!

Ah the childish mind of mine. The 69th day of the year is Mother’s Day. There’s an Oedipus joke in there somewhere…

Got up earlyish (For a Sunday) and picked Tom up from the Hospital. He’d had a bit of surgery following his slicing of his finger on a broken glass in the sink. Dropped him off at home before nipping to the Leeds United shop to pick up a home shirt for a tenner. Bargain!

Then we went up to Morley and saw both our Mums for Mothers Day.

Watched the first two episodes (finally) of The Following with Kevin Bacon and really enjoyed it. Need to get more watched ASAP!

Page 68/365 : Beach bound

Got up fairly early considering the amount we drank last night. Everyone was hanging though, apart from me who just doesn’t do hangovers!

Moped around in he cottages for a while before deciding that it would be “fun” to go down to the beach. This was when I remembered that my coat had been left in Kay and Rob’s room at the venue last night…uh oh!

So vein the epitome of style and cool, I went down to the beach wearing my Work Shoes (Elle was wearing my trainers), jeans, two t-shirts and my suit jacket from last night. I looked like a right bell end.

On the way down to the beach, I even introduced everyone to the weird and wonderful world of Geocaching, collecting one that was really close to the cottages.

The sea was whipped up massively as we clambered over the dunes and down onto the beach. It was also very windy and we ended up quite windswept :

20130310-072437.jpg

We did the obligatory stone skimming and writing things in the sand before heading back :

20130310-072854.jpg

We all decided that as most people were feeling rough and we were all massively skint, we weren’t going to stop for the extra night tonight an get off home instead. Met back up with the McKinneys at The Joiners Arms for a quick stop before easing back.

Was following the progress of the Leeds game too and genuinely thought we were going to win but we threw the match away again like we always tend to do. We could have really been in the playoff mix if we hadn’t messed up and thrown points away in a few of the games this season!

Played a bit of TV catchup tonight too whilst chilling.

Looking forward to going up to Morley tomorrow for Mother’s Day to see my mum.
