Page 96/365 : Late birthday

Lots of running around today for the wedding. We headed up to the Venue and spoke to the Wedding Co-Ordinator to finalise all the details of the wedding, ad to hand over all the CDs for the ceremony etc. It was good to get everything finalised.

The photographer also turned up to meet up with us. He’s very meticulous but will get some stunning photos. We’ve planned which shots we want, and had a walk through of the day to make sure everything is timed OK and it should all be good. The next time we’ll see him, it’ll be the big day!

Went over to Elle’s Dad’s to help Cait with something she was doing for school.

Leeds lost…..again! We’re a little too close to relegation for my liking!!!

Came home and got a bit of Dead Island time in before heading out to Jess & Dave’s for Elle’s late birthday night out. Matt & Zara were there too and Amy & Tom took us over.

Was a good laugh. Plenty of talk about weddings and suchlike.

Had a few beers too. Good times!

Page 95/365 : The “Crooks” of the matter…

Well today was an interesting one. This morning we all woke up to Crooksy posting on Facebook that he was at Heathrow Terminal 5 ready to fly out to New York.

20130405-235412.jpg

Which is fair enough, if he wanted to go to Mania, fair play….but it just seemed very odd that he had not told anyone at all. So the investigation began.

Lawlor text him on iMessage and it was “delivered” so it seemed like he hasn’t left the country at all…but this evening another “check in” appeared at JFK airport…could he really have packed up and gone?

20130405-235503.jpg

And then the plot thickened when he posted a photo up seemingly taken from a cab, facing the New York Skyline. Nothing too untoward there. But there was still some doubt, so Lawlor, Elle and I started posting up random photos of New York, thinking he was on the wind up…

….then this picture appeared :

20130405-235650.jpg

At first glance, nothing too bad about it. There’s a Bubba Gump in NY so Jo reason why…what…what…wait…!

Lawlor texts me and tells me to have a closer look at the photo and then I spot it….

20130405-235807.jpg

There…on the side of the bin…the Wrestlemania 20 logo…the last time it was in New York was Mania 20…oh and the last time Crooksy was there….Wrestlemania 20…

I think the term is….. BUSTED</strong

All credit to Lawlor for unearthing the devious plot. But Crooksy is still getting a slap and owes us all some Wrestlemania Merchandise for the hair-pulling and jealousy that's been coursing through our veins today!

Nice try Crooksy (and I know you'll be reason this) but next time….must try harder…!

Page 94/365 : “Is it like walking on a floor of baby chickens?”

Elle’s birthday today…I’d completely forgotten to get a card but we did have an emergency card in the drawer…not ideal, but needs must…I bought her the last two Twilight DVDs and the Popstars 3CD collection. Not the most amazing presents…but then again she does have something good coming for a Bridal Present in just over two weeks…so I hope she ain’t reading this… 😉

Organised the Grand National Sweepstake at work after people were asking me for it…it’s not an event without a Dave Woollin Sweepstake!!!

I drew out a couple myself and ended up with Imperial Commander and Rare Bob, although I let Elle have one of them and she’s got Rare Bob. I do love a good sweepstake, although I never, ever win money on my own Sweeps! It’s not fair!

Found out today that the Elbow Room in Leeds is having a Wrestlemania night lock-in…gutted that the boys aint coming up now otherwise we’d be in there for sure.

After work we headed over to Amy’s for Tea. Had chicken tikka and a catchup before heading back home to watch the recorded Dodgers Game from last night. Unfortunately, the Dodgers lost 5-3 to the Giants. That’s a 1-2 in the season so far.

Elle got some new flipflops from Work as a present…and seriously, you’d think she had been given the most amazing pair of Jimmy Choo’s the way she was parading around in them…

“It’s like they’re an actual part of my feet.”

“Oh they’re like a little party in my feet!”

“Its like walking on Clouds”

OK, that last one was mine, but the first two were hers!

I did say to her “Is it like walking on a floor of baby chickens?” but the look I got at my obvious sarcasm told me I needed to shut up.

Page 93/365 : Harvester

Normal day at work. Nothing really to report.

Read that the Dodgers lost to The Giants 4-0 last night. Boo!

After work, picked Elle up and went to meet my family at the Harvester for Louise’s birthday. Had about 8 bowls of salad before my main Triple Chicken meal came out. It was lovely. Megan was in comedy mode too.

Not much else to really talk about today. Caught up with The Following and set the Dodgers game to record as its on at 3am!!!

Page 92/365 : American Maps

Still not feeling 100% today but back to work it was. Joys!

After work, downloaded the American Maps onto the TomTom ready for the Honeymoon…should be fun driving on the wrong side of the road when we’re over there.

Also looked into the easiest way to get from our Hotel in Hollywood to the Dodgers Stadium and back…could be a bit of an adventure. Gotta jump on the bus from the hotel to Universal City, then take the train from Universal City to Union Station in LA. Then we’ll jump on the Dodger Express to Dodger Stadium. The return journey will be the same except we’ll have to get a taxi back from Universal City to the hotel as the bus doesn’t run after.

Did a little bit of shopping for Elle’s birthday tonight too. Got her….haha…that would be telling…

Caught up on some TV, including Raw, Robson Green’s Extreme Fishing, Coronation Street and CSI.

Still feeling poorly as hell today so decided against standing out in the chill for the Leeds game. Jimbo went to the game without me. Luckily (or not) the Leeds game was on TV. The first half was shocking. The second half was much better to start with, and McCormack scored a cracking goal, but in true Leeds United style, we threw it away, giving away a stupid penalty and then conceding another late on.

Later in the day it was announced that Leeds ha parted company with Warnock. It was always going to happen. He came to Leeds wanting a last season of Glory but it wasn’t to be…we just need to keep our eyes on the relegation problems that could loom now…

Went to fat class…put 3.5lb on! Meh!

Settled down to watch the Dodgers game on ESPN America tonight. It was their opening game of the season. Now, I’ve never been massively into Baseball but have watched it plenty in the past so understand all the rules but when Elle bought tickets for us to go see the Dodgers when over there on Honeymoon, I decided I need to take more of an interest.

The game was a cracker. It was very much a pitchers game. When it got to the bottom of the 8th I posted this on Twitter :

20130402-000626.jpg

I would like to think I contributed to what happened next…as Kershaw, who was pitching a brilliant game for the Dodgers, stepped up and smashed one out of the park to get the Dodgers on the scoreboard. They ended up getting 4 in the bottom of the 8th and Kershaw kept his shutout intact to take the game home for a 4-0 opening day win over the SF Giants, winners of the World Series last year.

I think I am going to enjoy this season! The next televised game for us UK fans is Wednesday night at 3am in the morning…will be recording that one then!

Page 90/365 : Poorly Easter

Short one today. Feeling ill as hell. Aching like a right bastard, snotty face, aching sinuses, headache, the lot.

Watched more Gavin & Stacey to finish it off.

Watched Chocolat.

Watched the start of Cougar Town and quite liked.

Wanna feel better for the match tomorrow. Bleurgh!

Page 89/365 : The Fund

We’ve booked a band for our wedding in three weeks…for the night do…but until tonight we’d never hear them live…or so we thought.

Tonight they were at The Hockney in Shipley so we headed over with three of the Brining clan, Dave, Jess & Zara. I was a little nervous because if they were shit, we were in a wry awkward position that would’ve resulted in Karaoke at the night do and me doing Chico Time for entertainment.

The band are called The Fund. When we turned up, I recognised one of the singers…I only recognised him because he looks like William Sadler the actor from Die Hard 2, Bill & Ted 2 and The Shawshank Redemption.

Then it hit me…

…a few years ago after the 9/11 attacks, The Cross Keys had a charity night and this was the same band…and that night was THE best night I ever had in the Keys!

And they were still awesome. We’re sooooooooo pleased that they rocked the place and will go down an absolute storm in three weeks!

In other news today, we went round Roundhay Park lake for a good hour or so with Amy & Tom and his kids. I almost killed myself Geocaching!

Played some more Dead Island and liken it a bit more than I was now.

Watched plenty of Gavin & Stacey too.

Elle also picked up her resized engagement ring which was now mega sparkly. She actually cried when she got it back…big softie!

Page 88/365 : Revolution

Tonight heralded the start of “Revolution” on Sky1. The brand new show from the US where all the power across the entire world has just disappeared. Militia has risen and a General has taken over, using his army to keep the country at bay.

When a man is killed, his daughter sets out on a quest to find her Uncle, without knowing why or to what end.

And it’s an end that I honestly cannot see myself seeing…

The entire setup for this series is brilliant. What would happen if there were no more phones or Internet or even lights? Hopefully we’ll never know, but this show just seems to take a turn towards the “do we really care?” Yes, there’s the background story of “where did all the light go” but it just doesn’t grasp enough attention and the 90% character building just isn’t strong enough for the 10% mystery behind everything.

Will I give it another couple of episodes? Maybe. Do I think it will get any better? Probably not.

As far as post apocalyptic type shows go, it’s no Walking Dead or even Falling Skies…

Started playing Dead Island today. It took some getting used to but it’s good fun

Elle had her final dress fitting today. I have my final suit fitting tomorrow. Exciting times.

Watched Deuce Bigelow earlier. Been a while.

Page 87/365 : Year End! End Of The World?

Year end at work today. Always an eventful one but even more so now I am in my invoicing role.

It all got off to a flyer when someone from the office down south went to war with me on emails over a credit on the system, wanting a long strung out process to be done for little benefit before telling me that I “wouldn’t understand as I wasn’t in Credit Control” to which I corrected her, telling her I used to be and she wouldn’t understand that as she wasn’t my boss! Fun times.

Then we had everyone in one of the other departments taking forever to clear everything up at the end of the day, meaning the finish of half 4 for the cut off for the system was delayed by an hour. Not happy!

In better news, The Big Reunion show was on tonight with the final concert. Gutted that I ain’t got tickets…but I’ll be in Vegas when it’s on and won’t really care.

In REAL news, North Korea signed off on Missiles to be aimed at US bases in the Pacific. This was retaliation for the Americans flying stealth bombers over Korea.

First of all, they both need to calm the fuck down and start nothing that involves nuclear weapons, the mess would be catastrophic, and secondly, if it is all going to kick off, can they just wait for about 6 weeks until we’ve been on Honeymoon to Vegas….please?
