Page 224/365 : Arrrrgggghh!

Suffering today.

My chest had flared up again and it was agony. Nothing was getting rid of it. Mix into that the panicky symptoms I get and I had to come home from work.

Went to the docs and he told me my blood pressure was up but that was probably due to panicking. Going back tomorrow to make sure it’s come back down!

It’s rather annoying! Just want it to piss off now!

Page 223/365 : Win & Draw & Dragons

LA Dodgers won last night (yes I know it was technically yesterday but I wrote my blog before watching the game) which is always nice.

Shame the same couldn’t be said for Leeds United who made the trip to Leicester for the first away game of the season. The game was on Sky but it was quite possibly one of the most boring games ever. Very limited chances. A lot lost in the middle of the park. We are majorly missing some wide players….but Max Gradel tweeted this earlier :

Could he be coming back?

The Leeds game ended 0-0. I had to piss a couple of people off on my prediction league too. I have always said that all predictions must be in an hour before Kickoff. When it got to Half 3, I posted saying predictions were closed. In the next few minutes, two people predicted! I refused to let them in. The rules were there for a reason as the team sheets are announced, and one hour before gives me enough time to put the spreadsheet together before leaving the house on a Home match.

Dragons Den was back tonight too. Love the Dragons! Two newbies in the chairs too replacing Theo and that shoulder-pad woman. It was quality as always.

Tonight, the Perseid Meteor Shower was in the sky….I started looking during clear skies. But then a HUGE cloud came over. Game over!

Page 222/365 : Party Arrows

Woke up at 4 this morning for the loo…flicked on the Dodgers game to see how they were doing but in the 6th innings they were getting annihilated 6-0 so I turned it off. Then around 7am I finally properly woke up and looked at the final score……..the Dodgers had won 7-6 with a run in the 7th, 2 runs in the 8th and 4 runs in the 9th. Insane! The winning run came from a Rays error too! Haha. Oh well…the Mighty Dodgers roll on.

Up and about early-ish this morning and to our Louise’s for Megan’s 4th birthday party. Elle was doing the facepainting for all the kids who were loving it.

Rich’s Man-Cave was coming along nicely now. The dart board was up…so it’s was a case of “LET’S PLAY DAAAAARTS”.

Me and Rich had 5 games and I beat him 3-2. I also beat my Dad in a game. I have always said that I think Darts is something I could actually be quite good at if I put my mind to it and played it properly. I can get it “there-or-thereabouts” and probably just need the practice.

Page 221/365 : Space

Using the NASA app tonight, we found out the there was a good passing of the International Space Station at 10:13 tonight so we went out to watch it fly past. It was fantastic.

It was visible for 6 minutes and I loved watching it. It’s mad to think that something 350km up in the sky, orbiting the earth, is so visible.

So the weekend is here. Looking forward to going to my nieces 4th birthday party tomorrow. Not actually got that much planned for the weekend apart from that and the Leeds game on Sky on Sunday.

Page 220/365 : Rich Ducks, Donny Draw & Vanilla Cruise

Woke up to the news of a nice Dodgers win after the Cardinals pitcher got injured.

Best news came from the “Official” Forbes Fictional Character Rich List though. Yes, the list that usually classifies the likes of Simon Cowell, Oprah Winfrey, The Queen, and that pisshead who won the lottery has published the definitive list of wealthiest fictional characters.

Of course, Bruce Wayne is in there (because that’s all he has….money and no actual Super Power) as is Tony Stark (yes, Superman would bury him too) but the best was the number one, with none other than Scrooge McDuck taking the title!!! Wow! He saved up his fortune through treasure hunting, apparently…and he just beat Smaug from The Hobbit, who had amassed a fortune from a life of Marauding!

Work plodded along…at least it’s Friday tomorrow!

Leeds drew Doncaster away in the next round of the cup. Should be fun.

Chicken Lasagne for tea….yummy!

Caught up with Big Brother.

Watched Vanilla Sky tonight through Netflix. Elle has never seen it. It’s been a while for me and it is definitely a film which gets better the more you watch it. You pick up much more. It’s in my top five Tom Cruise films along with Cocktail, Mission Impossible, Top Gun and Rock Of Ages 😉

Page 219/365 : Robbed of points

Bit miffed today! All because the Dodgers lost last night….first loss on the road in 16 matches! Booooo!

Leeds vs Chesterfield in the Capital One Barclaycard, Visa Electron Trophy tonight at Elland Road.

Met up with Jimbo, who turned up around twenty minutes before kickoff as usual, and headed to the game. For my football predictor, I needed a good result and had predicted a 4-0 win, with a Poleon first goal in the 18th minute, with 11,011 there…….

The game kicked off…and let’s be honest, it wasn’t the greatest show of footballing prowess in the world. We did the usual of allowing them to come at us and standing off….and after 17 minutes and 15 seconds….Chesterfield scored….so that’s into the 18th minute….result…..but alas, the Leeds United website gave the goal as the 17th! Damn! BBC Sport said the goal went in on 18:05 and it was a 19th minute goal, and Sky Sports say it was an 18th minute opening goal in their match report, but the game summary says 19. Haha. I said we’d stick with the Leeds United match report though and there we go.

Anyway….Brown was playing shite most of the game. Some Leeds fans really love him though, god knows why. But then when he smacked one into the back of the net, everyone hailed him as a hero.

Then just a few short minutes later, Poleon went through and looked to have taken it too far but slotted a shot through the defender’s legs and past the Keeper.

The rest of the game was a bit edgy. At times, we made Chesterfield look like a decent team and I have no fears that they will do really well in League 2 this season.

But we held onto the lead and progress into the second round. The draw is tomorrow.

Page 218/365 : Naked Leather Sofa Sitting

This blog was inspired by Dixie on Real Radio and the conversation he was having this morning on the breakfast show…

Ok, here’s the deal…I like to get naked…all the time. In the comfort of the house, with the curtains drawn, it’s quite liberating.

It all starts with my right sock. I don’t know why it’s always my right sock, but off it comes. My Mum has said that I used to do it as a kid. I would always walk around with my left foot covered and my right one sockless.

But as soon as the curtains are drawn, it’s naked time. Sometimes it starts off as Loungepant time, but always ends up with Naked Time.

But here comes the problem. We have a leather sofa. And it’s warm. And it’s ok sitting down on it, but when you move to get up quickly like I just did, and you almost leave the skin your entire ball-sack on the sofa, you know you’re suffering for being naked all the time.

Disclaimer : Don’t worry…the sofa gets a “wipe down” so if you come to ours, you don’t have to play “dodge the skin-print”.

Page 217/365 : Knightmare

Knightmare is BACK!

Well kinda.

It’s YouTube Geek Week and as a one-off, Knightmare returns.

It’s got the feel of the old show and everything but the guys playing the game are just too damn annoying. Check it for yourself :

Oh and look out for the moment around 24:14 when Veruca says “What the fuck was it?” Not very child-friendly but still!

I have been watching all the old episodes on Challenge and love them and would seriously love for this to come back properly with some budget…and some better helpers for the dungeoneer!

Page 216/365 : Clearouts and Cub-Beating

Got rid of a car load of shite we don’t need today and took it to the Household waste recycling place in Middleton. It was all just cluttering junk. Need to go to my Mum’s at some point and clear the cupboard there too that has all my stuff in from three years ago.

After the Dodgers won again last night, taking their “On the road” win streak to 13, today’s game also started at a reasonable time of 7:20. It was the fourth game in the series with the Cubs, and even though the Dodgers only got 2 hits in the entire game, they pitched extremely well and managed to win the game 1-0. So that’s now a 14-game streak away from Dodger Stadium. Hanley Ramirez took a nasty fall though. He pelted after a ball which caught in the wind. He managed to catch it but his legs hit the wall and he went head first into the first row. He jarred his shoulder. Hopefully he’ll be OK though.

Page 215/365 : It’s Time For Leeds United Football!

A packed Elland Road is a beautiful sight. It takes me back to my earlier days of being a Leeds fan, turning up to sold out games, the noise being deafening and wins being celebrated with the kind of jubilation which would look like insanity anywhere other than inside a football stadium.

Forget the fact that it was a return of a shitload of part-timers who were coming for the first time since we played Premier League opponents in the cup, the house was full to bursting and completely sold out…apart from a mass of Corporate seats and a tonne of Away supporter seats…everyone was there…apart from my mate who sits next to me who’d had a bit of a bender in Amsterdam so didn’t turn up.

And it’s been all change of course. The new owners paraded themselves before the game like a bunch of corporate puppets, giving free gifts away left, right and center, or more to the point North, East, South & West. But that wasn’t the biggest change…oh no….the biggest change and shock came when I glanced over to the dugouts and thought “their manager looks a bit like Brian McDermott” only to realise that this season, Leeds United have opted to take over the Dugout closer to the Kop.

And then the football began. At first glance, we looked to be on the back foot and Kenny had to do well a couple of times to deny Brighton, but then we picked up our game and began to press a little, until the 13th minute when Ulloa struck a ball, seemingly, straight through Paddy Kenny and into the back of the net.

Just when it seemed like it was going to be “another one of those seasons”, up pops Ross McCormack in the 18th minute with a great strike.

Half time came and went…I didn’t get picked for the halftime game…boooo!

And into the second half, it was back and forth between both teams. Varney had an effort just wide, but it was the introduction of Poleon which seemed to spur the team on. He seemed to put in that extra bit of effort and it almost paid off when he pulled a shot just wide of the post.

All looked to be heading for a 1-1 draw, but in the 90th minute we almost snatched things when the keeper parried a shot to Green who had plenty of time but blasted a shot over the bar…it just wan’t going to happen….and then it did.

Not long after Kenny had made a fantastic save, we saw the ball in the Brighton penalty area. It bounced up and over, and Murphy, on his Leeds United debut, “controlled” the ball before hitting it across the keeper, who deflected it and into the back of the net. I say “controlled” because he definitely used his arm to keep the ball at his feet!

So we pick up the three points in a cracking win to start the season. Maybe we’ll get the rub of the green a little this season…maybe….
