Page 253/365 : Ineligible

Dodgers back to winning ways last night. 8-1 vs the Diamondbacks with 6 Home Runs…three of which came off Uribe’s bat!

Got up and tuned into Real Radio. Started phoning and managed to get through. Unfortunately I was told I was Ineligible to play. I said that the £50k Friday rules said nothing, but was pointed to the Real Radio rules which do say that anyone who has won £1,000 or more cannot win any other prizes for 6 months! Gutted!

Even more annoying was the fact that I knew every answer to every question asked! Grrrrrr!

Ah well…hopefully we’ll get a callback for the Gameshow we applied for…!

Big Apple reveal today. That’s a big “Apple” reveal, not a “big apple” reveal….anyway….the iPhone 5C is coming, as is the 5s.

Fingerprint technology for passwords, faster processors, better camera, slightly better battery. Looking good. I won’t be getting one until upgrade time though next April!

Page 252/365 : GTAV, iOS7, 50 Grand Friday, Advent Calendars & Double Rainbows

It’s been a funky kind of day.

It all started off this morning when £50 Grand Friday started again on Real Radio…the competition I managed to get to the final of last time…could I do it again. I was sat poised with the phone…when Dixie on the radio said “Message for Dave Woollin, you can’t phone in today”….I tried anyway…but straight after he said it, he played a Michael Jackson record…damn them! (Click to see my previous blog to see why this made me laugh/mad) – I didn’t make it through to the on-air show though…so there’s 19 chances left…keep them crossed people!

After work, Morrisons had a high and a low in the space of about ten minutes. First up…we saw this on the way in…a DOUBLE RAINBOW

Image

But then after walking around the store for a little while……..we saw THESE!!!

It’s SEPTEMBER THE NINTH! Why do we have Advent Calendars in the shops??? Seriously people! The chocolate will have gone off by the time it gets to frigging Christmas!!!!!

Nice throwback tonight too as Lawlor copied me into a picture posted on Twitter by @AnthonyShaw_ who showed the difference 16 years can make in gaming with this comparison photo of the original Grand Theft Auto game with the new GTAV which is due out in 8 days time.

WOW.

Tomorrow has an Apple announcement scheduled…apparently meant to be iOS7 as well as the new iPhone…will be interesting to see how people cope with the update…by the looks of it, it’s set to be massively different and will take some people ages to get used to! Us techies will be fine with it though…we can just laugh at those people who had only just got around to managing to play “Snake” prior to getting their first iPhone… 🙂

Page 251/365 : Records & Chilling

Today was always going to be a lazy lazy lazy day.

Chilled out watching re-runs of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” to introduce Lawlor to the madness, and loads of Rude Tube.

Then I found the website RecordSetters.com and I want to get involved. I would love to break a world record…and this might be my best chance…stay tuned…I will be practicing balancing poles on my head and everything.

In other news, Louis Tomlinson (one of One Direction) played in a charity match today and got a kicking from Gabbie Agbonlahor…and now all the One Direction fans are sending Death Threats to him across Twitter…Jesus! Get a fucking grip you teenage morons! They are the scourge of Twitter along with those idiotic Beliebers!

Here’s the photo of it…but beware..it could induce spontaneous bouts of laughter (Or if your a One Direction fan, probably a wet seat as Louis legs are on show…[Even if they’re nearly broken {they’re not really broken }]) Wow!

Page 250/365 : Knightcon

Today was Knightcon, the annual “Stars & Cars” event at Xscape in Castleford. In previous years, I have fancied going but never managed to get there…but this year I went.

Lawlor came over after dropping his sister off at the airport. We headed over.

The first thing we saw was the 30ft Stay Puft Marshmallow Man…awesome. When we got closer, her was surrounded by Ghostbusters too. Brilliant. And look….Ecto 1 was there too.

20130908-100205.jpg

We saw Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in truck form too as we’ll as hanging out with a stormtrooper.

20130908-100401.jpg

As a big Superman fan, I had to pose next to the Batmobile with my Superman T-Shirt and Superman man bag of course : FUCK BEN AFFLECK!

20130908-100510.jpg

20130908-100559.jpg

They had a old of KITT cars, a couple of General Lee’s and we spotted a copper eating a Burger King…how very American!

Then…my defining moment came…The Delorean from Back To The Future…with its door opened…and I had my brand new iPad case with me…check out me getting into the Delorean with Gray’s Sports Almanac

This is the case close up. It was an early birthday present from my sister. I love it.

The kids were absolutely loving Freddy Kruger on the school bus…which is a bit off when you think about it….Freddy was a child killer….

20130908-101042.jpg

Lawlor met his future wife…

20130908-101112.jpg

…and his new best friend…

20130908-101152.jpg

It was an absolutely cracking day. The only problem I had with it was the Heroes Parade. All the costumed characters did a parade for everyone to see…but they did it in a little back corner of the venue which made it hard for people to see…plus, everything was on ground level with no raised platform so there were a lot of people complaining that they couldn’t see. My favourite costumed character was Robocop

20130908-101509.jpg

In the evening I introduced Lawlor to the world of Baseball by basically making him sit through a Dodgers game. It was quite a good game and ended up 3-3 and into “Bonus Baseball” but the Dodgers lost when the Reds brought in a super-fast pinch-runner who basically just legged it the whole way around the bases and was never going to be caught. It was a clever way to win the game…if not slightly annoying for us Dodger fans.

Page 249/365 : Friday night home alone movie night

Elle went out after work with her work buddies as part of the Sports & Social team on a freebie at Tiger, Tiger in Leeds.

I was left home alone, so it was movie night.

Film #1,229 was Jack Reacher. A book adaptation that I had mixed preconceptions about. Tom Cruise can be very hit and miss. And this, for me was a god-awful miss. The film’s pace was snail-like, the action no-where near intense enough and Cruise’s wisecracks just missed the mark by a mile. I just couldn’t get invested in any of the characters at all, despite trying my best. I turned it off after an hour, I couldn’t bear to watch the rest.

So on went film #1,230 : Ong Bak. A martial arts film with subtitles from Thailand…and my annoyance at the lack of action in Reacher was handsomely repaid in this. It’s the standard story, an idol is stolen from a village that based it’s entire beliefs around it, and one man has to go to the big city to reclaim the statue for his people. The fighting scenes are absolutely amazing. No wire work is involved here and everything just works so amazingly. Highly recommended if you can put up with Subtitles…I know a lot of people hate them.

I stuck Grease 2 on afterwards…but it wasn’t long until Elle needed picking up so I had to leave it…although I do almost know it word-for-word…and in my opinion it is way better than the Travolta/Newton-John one.

Page 248/365 : Educating Yorkshire

Damn I missed this on Thursday Night so here I am on Friday morning writing this after just watching last night’s (or tonight’s if you’re reading this as Thursday’s entry) episode of the new documentary series “Educating Yorkshire” which was filmed over the course of a year at Thornhill Community Academy near Dewsbury.

We were introduced to some very interesting characters.

First off, Mr Mitchell is the no-nonsense headteacher. He knows what he wants and he’s striving to get it. Having to deal day-to-day with the kids running riot around his school. He has to deal with backchat, repeat offenders, smokers, lying…basically everything from any normal school. But he deals with it all very well, making sure all sides of stories are heard and dealing out the necessary punishment.

Then come the kids…the real stars of the show. This week we saw Bailey, a young girl who plastered herself with makeup to hide some scars from her childhood, as well as shaving off her eyebrows and drawing them on each morning. She’s a bit of a trouble causer, but seems to have a heart too, trying to help her best friend out when she was in trouble too.

Then there’s Kamrrem, a trouble-causing little shit who lied about being racially tormented and due to being called to Mr Mitchell’s office 73 times got the boot from the school for a short time.

And my favourite, Ryan, a lad who has wisdom well beyond his years and is aiming to be a future Politian, Actor or Firefighter…ah the dreams of youth! He’ll end up in some crappy office job somewhere filling out spreadsheets and making cups of tea…!

It’s a cracking series and I can’t wait to see next week’s. Hey, even Dixie from Real Radio got on it telling everyone they were having a Snow Day!

Page 247/365 : You just lost The Game

I am sorry but :

You just lost The Game

Yes, by reading this you have just lost The Game and have to start all over again.

The Game is simple and can be explained by the rules on http://www.losethegame.com/ :

Rule 1: You are playing The Game.
You, along with everyone else in the world, always is, always has been,
and always will be playing The Game. Neither awareness nor consent is required to play.

Rule 2: Every time you think about The Game, you lose.
Loss is temporary; as soon as you forget about The Game you stop losing.
The objective of The Game is to forget that it exists. Good luck.

Rule 3: Loss of The Game must be announced.
Every time you think about The Game, and hence lose, you must say so.
This is the only rule that can be broken, but do you really need to cheat..?

Page 246/365 : Meds change

Changed the dosage of Meds today to what the consultant suggested and it seems to be working. I made the mistake of drinking some fresh orange juice at work and got the chest pains…it is obviously linked to the acid…I will have to keep my eye on it!

Dodgers won again last night…even though I fell asleep for the end of the game. Oops. Woke up around 3am when Derek was nudging me to play…he got sent straight downstairs.

Looking forward to Knightcon this weekend at Xscape. Lawlor is coming up for it.

Page 245/365 : The Reflux

Had my referral at the Hospital today for my dodgy chest.

When I finally got seen, the doc wanted me to go have chest X-rays. Did that. Had to have two as they missed the bottom of my chest off the first time (I must have saggy tits).

Then did height/weight etc when she tried to tell me I was only 5’11”. Bitch! She measured me the same 5 times before realising the measuring stick was at an angle. When it was straight I was 6’1″. Better!

Then did a blowie test. My lung age is 20. Not bad eh? Now I just wanna know what they have been doing for 11 years of my life!

Finally saw the Doc and was with him ages. It all looks like its coming back to a crazy form of acid reflux. I have been told to alter the meds I am in slightly and hopefully it’ll work.

Oh yeah…and this is back from next week :

20130902-230836.jpg

They have changed the rules though so you can only play once in the four weeks. #MyFault
