Page 20/365 : Fucking Gala

Was all geared up to go swimming today, hell I even bought a frigging Spider-Man swimming bag to counter the fact that I normally turn up with a Morrisons carrier bag. I turned up at the John Charles Centre around half 2 and was promptly told that the centre was closed today for a Swimming Gala! Great! No swimming today.

Elle cooked a cracking Chicken Dinner today complete with Roast Potatoes! All cracking on the Slimming World diet ready for weigh in tomorrow. I have been reasonably good this week and have only just gone over my syns so it should be OK.

Watched 7 episodes of Dexter back-to-back after Lawlor gave me a link online to season 7 streams. Awesome…no spoilers here!

Played Dice With Buddies excessively today too. I should be amazing at Yahtzee now!!!

Page 19/365 : Better late than…erm…too late!

Oops, almost forgot about updating…so it may be page 20, but I am updating page 19! Haha

Had a card through the post this morning telling me my T-Shirts from BeWild.com had arrived…unfortunately I have been slapped with a £13 import fee. Ouch. Decided to go pick it up (and pay for it) on the way to the football. Got to the Post Office at about ten-to 2 and it was shut…the bloody thing wasn’t meant to be shut until 2! Rather annoying.

Jimbo text me this morning saying he couldn’t be bothered with the Leeds game today as it was too cold. I asked Nath if he fancied coming and he was up for it. Picked him up and decided to park in the car park next to the ground because I couldn’t be arsed walking.

After having fun trying to get Nath through the turnstile (he was pushing the season ticket card into the slot instead of swiping it) we were in. I had a cheeky couple of quid on McCormack & 2-0 at 25/1. Had a laugh with the lads who were sat around us, giving me some stick about Tipping Point.

The match, to put it nicely, was shite. Bristol were easily the worst team who had been to Elland Road this season and it showed, but likewise, we seemed unable to string more than three passes together. There was only the new boy Barkley who seemed to shine.

Luckily we managed to score from a cross onto McCormack’s head and took the game 1-0 but if we play like that against Spurs next week we’ll be annihilated!

Didn’t get chance to go swimming today as we spent most of the morning watching Prison Break. Watched loads more later on and finished Season 1 and started on Season 2.

Page 18/364 : Worst Snow Day Ever!

Well it was hyped up that today was going to be insane with the amount of snow that was going to ravage the country, and here in Leeds we got just about the smallest spattering of it possible. I don’t even think it could’ve been measured in inches.

Despite spending most of the day looking out of the window waiting an hoping for some of the white stuff to fall, it was quite a productive one at work.

Had steak for tea.

Discovered Dice With Buddies on the iPad. It’s an online version of Yahtzee and I love it.

Watched a load more Prison Break.

Looking forward to the Leeds game tomorrow in the freezing cold, just hope the players give us something to keep us warm.

Page 17/365 : Panic buying

…and so the snow begins…apparently. We haven’t seen too much of it today but the white-out is coming…and what is the natural thing to happen? Yup, the panic buying has begun. People on Facebook and Twitter acting like we are 24 hours away from the apocalypse…so what did we do after work? Went to Morrisons…and the fun began.

There were managers with radios running around shouting out and reporting shelves which were becoming depleted. There were fast shifts to get all the de-icer and the snow shovels to the front door area, just to make sure all the panicking people knew exactly where to get them. People were stockpiling sugar and bottles water like they were battening down the hatches for a Nuclear Winter. It was ridiculous. So naturally, we took the piss:

Elle knew I needed excessive amounts of toilet roll

20130117-213430.jpg

The only way to keep my fiancée warm, with loads of Hot Water Bottles and electric blankets

20130117-213522.jpg

Empty shelves everywhere

20130117-213630.jpg

20130117-213714.jpg

We saw one woman with 4 2kg bags of sugar…who needs 8kg of sugar in any given week? Stupidity, that’s all it is!

Anyway…seeing as though the apocalypse is about to hit, no doubt mobile phone signals are about to disappear…so if I report back tomorrow, then we’ve all survived!

Page 16/365 : Wins & Swims

Quite a productive one today. Phoned the place up at lunch who are providing the Golf Break that that I won on Tipping Point. Found out we didn’t have to play golf, and the voucher is valid for any Marriott across Europe so we are thinking about doing a Bruges ferry trip at the back end of the year tied in with a stay in Ghent in the Marriott there. Could be a good plan.

Had an email from the manufacturers of the iPod non-waterproof waterproof armband thing who I had sent a snotty email to. I am hoping they will offer some kind of compensation. They were saying that I need to send them bak to them and they would “investigate”. Hmmm.

Back to the swimming tonight down at the John Charles. We had to pay £4.40 as we only have the Off-Peak bodyline card but it was OK. Did my 64 lengths in 46 minutes, knocking a full 4 minutes off my time from Sunday.

My new glasses arrived today. The optician said it would take a bit to get used to them. I really like them. Will be good to out the Transition lenses to the test!

Caught up on Celebrity Big Brother tonight.

Was looking into getting tickets in Vegas for Rock Of Ages and found some fairly cheap-ish ones online. Just need to get them closer to the time.

Page 15/365 : The Comedown & Raw

Bit of a comedown today following the fun and games of yesterday’s TV appearance. Plenty of ribbing from people at work, with some saying I should have gambled and most saying I shouldn’t and some asking the next thing I will be doing. Truth is I can’t get into anything else for a while. You have to sign a contract now which basically stops you going on shows in quick succession.

I am hoping to get a call back about Beat The Clock, the show that I had to turn down because I was on Tipping Point. Just need it to be commissioned a second season 😉

Big win for Leeds tonight in the FA Cup, picking up a 2-1 win over Birmingham to set up a match against Spurs at Elland Road in the next round. Should be a good turn out for that one. McCormack and Diouf got the goals tonight.

Watched some more Prison Break this evening as well as catching up on WWE Raw from last night. Raw was a bit disappointing. It was the 20th anniversary of Raw and I expected a bit of an extravaganza, unfortunately, The Rock, Mick Foley and Ric Flair were the only flashbacks to Raw of yesteryear, aside from a few video packages of things we had all seen back on the 1000th episode. Nothing of any massive interest really.

The Rock Concert was funny, and the main event was good with Cena and Ziggler facing off in a Steel Cage, but it was a match with nothing on the line and all-in-all massively pointless in terms of storyline and progressiveness.

Page 14/365 : Tipping Point & Tipping The Scales

Well today was the day that my episode of Tipping Point was on ITV1. What an up n down ride that was!

We filmed it back in November down in London at the iconic BBC television studios. They put me up overnight as it was an early call. After meeting up with the other contestants, we met with the production crew etc. we had a quick run through of the game. The other contestants were nice people and a good laugh.

We went to the studio and I realised the Floor Manager was the same one who did Deal Or No Deal all those years ago. Was it a sign of things to come?

Ben Shephard arrived and was great. E was friendly to us all and we had a bit of banter about his Twitter search the night before for a 4-bird roast.

Then it was time for the first round, an absolute disaster for everyone really. Hardly any money was won, and at the end of the round I had to go through on a tiebreaker.

The second round was a bit more successful for me when Bill went first and didn’t win too much. I went last and luckily it paid off. I went into the lead.

Between that round and the next, there was a lighting issue so we had to break in filming whilst it was fixed. We got to eat in the BBC bar! Bonus!

Into the next round of filming and I maintained the lead going into the final.

Then it was time for the final…I cocked up a question about the Titanic that I really should have got, and I got another one wrong which ended up being down to a total guess. It all lead to a £2,350 bank total and a £10k counter which was already part way over the edge. I went for the gamble…and lost…absolutely gutted!

And that day, to make things worse, I found out I was being made redundant at work!!!! Luckily that is all over though now and we’re keeping our jobs!!!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but that £10k counter was just waaaaay too tempting to turn down, and had it dropped over the edge (all it needed was one more counter behind it) and it would have been mine!

Ah well…at least I have a golfing break!!!!!!!

Back to Slimming Work for weigh in tonight and I picked up the Slimmer Of The Week basket with a nice 6lb loss. That means that in the two weeks after Christmas/New Year, I have managed to lose the 13 & 1/2lb I put on in that same time.

Page 13/365 : Swim, an end and a start

Quite an eventful one for a Sunday.

Finished 24 off this morning…no more Jack Bauer…unless they make a film…it was good to have re-lived it all again with Elle having never seen…next up…Prison Break. We are a few episodes in already, and again, even though I have seen it will be great to re-visit it.

Went to the John Charles Centre to sign up for the Bodyline Card with the stamped form that our Doctor had given us before heading up to Morley with said card to go swimming. It’s the first time in Morley baths in YEARS for me…and I was half expecting Stead to be stood poolside but he wasn’t there. I even wore my Prescription Goggles I got a couple of years ago and never used for Total Wipeout.

Started off in the fast lane for a good few lengths before moving across into the medium speed lane. Managed to do the full 64 lengths for a complete mile in dead on 50 minutes, so I was pleased with that and it certainly gives me something to aim for in the coming weeks.

Went to Asda to return the hoodie that had come and had been wrong. Ended up listening to the life story of some woman working there who decided it was right to be telling me all about a toy she’d bought for her grandson that had broken, and she couldn’t fix, but her grandson had sorted…it was a definite “I don’t really care, just give me my tender back” moment.

Bought a cheap snooker cue. Might have to start playing..I do like a good game.

Did a bit more progress on the jigsaw…New York is coming along nicely…just got the buildings to put in…as it stands, it looks a little like the apocalypse has hit with all red sky and no structures!

Oh…and I am on Tipping Point on ITV1 tomorrow at 4pm…should be…erm…interesting!

Up n at ’em early this morning for a 9am eye test over at Tesco in Seacroft. Dropped Elle off at Asda for the big shop whilst I went over. Apparently my right eye has got considerably worse. Got my prescription and ordered online.

Glasses Direct were offering a free second pair…and I found a £30 off voucher on MoneySavingExpert so combining that with two pairs, one of them with Transition Lenses, it all came out at about £120 delivered.

My new mobile phone cover arrived today. A metallic 3D Superman case that’s awesome.
