Elle went off on her Hen Do today. She got to Chester about 3…unfortunately there was a HUGE accident on the M62 and it meant everyone was late. Louise, Laura and my Mum took about 6 and half hours to get from Leeds to Chester! Ouch!

Went for a few drinks with Kev, Layton & Pagey followed by a Pizza Bello (it’s been a while) then back to Kev’s to watch the Saints vs Rhinos match.

Crashed at my parents’ for the night.

Well, tonight we went over to Amy’s for tea and went to the Hungry Horse chain pub The Roundhay. I went for the biggest mixed grill ever! It was stunning! I also had the Biggest ice cream ever too.

Went back to theirs after to “prepare” something for Elle’s Hen Do…what will it be? Haha, now that would be telling 😉

Page 58/365 : F&B’S & iPod

Went to Frankie & Benny’s after work today for Tracey’s leaving do. She’s ready to drop shortly so she’d arranged a meal. As I was completely off the diet on the weekend, I decided I couldn’t be bothered pissing about with crappy Bacon Steaks and Jacket Potato so I went for the starter of Buffalo Chicken Wings and a main of the Cajun Chicken Calzone. It was realllllly nice!

Had a bit of an iPod updating session tonight too with Elle. She’s wanting tunes for the iPod for this weekend so we set about literally trawling through the 3000+ tracks on my iTunes for ones to go on her iPod. We finished after midnight when we were both thoroughly bored of hearing the first ten seconds of songs before moving onto the next one!

I also realised that I must have THE cheesiest taste in music ever! Woohoo!!

Page 57/365 : Catch up, caught up

Bit of a catchup day today really.

Felt much better after an early night last night and plenty of sleep. Really needed it.

Started reading Tales From the Edge of America, Part 1: New York to Montana by Paul Smith who is the person behind Appysnap, my favourite iPhone game of all time. A few years ago he did Twitchhiker where he attempted to use Twitter to get around the world but it didn’t quite work out perfectly. This time he’s travelling all over America and he’s written about his exploits. It’s informative and very funny. Only about 16% in but can’t wait to read more! Look it up on Amazon…it’s great! I will do a proper review when I have completed it.

*WWE Raw SPOILER ALERT*

Also watched last night’s Raw which set up HHH vs Brock Lesnar, which was always going to happen after Vince’s altercation with Paul Heyman. Was a little disappointed on Raw that the Undertaker didn’t turn up after he had done a house show in Texas over the weekend. Will be interesting to see if he gets involved anywhere in the run up to Mania.

John Cena vs CM Punk has officially become my Match Of The Year already. What a stunning performance. They even had Punk hit a Piledriver and Cena take Punk out with a Hurricanrana!!! Unbelievable! Cena won though, and even though I would have booked Undertaker to screw Punk over, leading up to Mania (and a possible end to the streak) it was an absolutely cracking match!

Also watched the final Black Mirror from last night. I have to say I was quite disappointed in it. It wasn’t as good as the previous two but I can definitely see what it was aiming for.

Page 56/365 : Sleeeepppyyyyzzzzzzzz!

Absolutely shattered today. So bloody tired after the weekend. Hardly slept last night though which didn’t help. Was waking up every two minutes either having a bad dream or being elbow by Elle for snoring too much!

Not much to report really today. Watched some American Idol and decided to attempt to get back into CSI but started feeling tired so turned off and now ready for that well-needed sleeeeeeeeppppppp……..

Page 55/365 : Stag done

And that was it, my Stag Do all over and what a weekend it was. The last two posts really didn’t do it justice so here we go.

My highlights :
~Friday~

  • Being dressed as a Hooters Girl
  • Being stood in the toilets at the Hourglass having my makeup put on by Craig Cawood whilst unsuspecting drinkers came for a piss
  • Crashing an Asian wedding whilst being dressed as a Hooters Girl
  • Going to Hooters dressed as a Hooters girl
  • Having my wig taken off me in Pitcher & Piano by the doorman because it didn’t fit in with their dress-code!
  • ~Saturday~

  • Having to get the hotel to Unblock the toilet in our room after Lawlor and I sang too many torpedoes, dropped too many kids off at the pool etc
  • Being dressed as Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz
  • Spending AGES waiting for my Dad to get out of bed in the morning
  • Agreeing to have a coach pick us up at 11:15 and getting to Adrenalin Jungle way too early for our activities and having to wait, in the freezing cold, in a dress, for a long time
  • Attempting to go up and over the A-Frame cargo net, in a dress, whilst 17 lads chucked Acorns at me and one lad filmed it (See Facebook for the film)
  • Realising I am pretty awesome at Archery and given the right equipment and training…could be a contender!
  • Realising that it took me being the brains of the operation to win the Team Construction Challenge
  • Lawlor being the best damned blindfold 4×4 navigator the world has ever seen
  • Rob being the Worst damned blindfolded 4×4 navigator the world has ever seen
  • Realising the activity day finished over an hour before the coach had been booked to pick us up (another epic timing fail by me)
  • Going to the Nottingham Dogs dressed as a Hen on her hen do
  • Getting a forecast up at the dogs on the race we sponsored
  • Having a photo taken with the winning dog
  • THAT screaming woman at the Dogs “Come On” (See Facebook for the video)
  • ~Sunday~

  • Finding out that chip shops have to pay VAT of chip butties but jot if they give you the chips and bread cake separately!
  • The entire weekend was absolutely phenomenal and I couldn’t have spent it with a better group of lads. Will always remember and cherish it…now…onto the next time…!

    Page 54/365 – Stag Do Day 2

Woke up full of the joys of spring this morning, no hangover or anything, which was massively surprising following the amount we drank yesterday.

Went down for Breakfast but I couldn’t really face food so didn’t bother eating much.

It was time for outfit number two :

    20130224-152931.jpg

A 16-seater picked us up to take us to the Adrenalin Jungle adventure centre. The centre was about 4000 miles away! We got there early due to the fact that the taxi company had asked a couple of days ago if they could come earlier for us. It resulted in us having a wait around at the centre before getting into our activities.

When we finally got our turn we went down to do the archery which was brilliant. I actually was quite good at it. Our team walked all over team two! We were just too damned good. Afterwards we pinned the blow-up sheep to the target and had one arrow each. Crooksy nailed it straight through the eye!

    20130224-160002.jpg

We then had a change around. My team went to do the Team Construction first. It was funny. We basically had to transfer some water from one end of the course to the other. We had to walk across some bars without falling off and then moved the water from buckets into a tube and then move a ping pong ball to another tube. It was really good fun and after spending AGES not knowing what the hell we were going to do we cracked it. We then moved to play a Helicopter Game where we pulled strings to move a helicopter to pick up discs.

Then we swapped activities. It was our time for Blindfolded 4×4 driving. That was great fun. One person driving and others stood either side directing where to turn the wheel to go around a slalom course through gates. Had to love Rob’s directing :

    Rob : left hand down
Instructor : don’t say Left or Right
Rob : right hand down all the way
Instructor : you can’t used Left or Right
    Rob : left arm down

    20130224-160258.jpg

Our team walks absolutely everything and we won easily, which was good as we gave the rest some stick.

Then I made a fuck up…I had booked the taxi for 5…but we finished at quarter to 4 so we had to wait around for an hour until the taxi coach turned up! Oops!

Got bam to the hotel and was given my third outfit for the night :

    20130224-160448.jpg

And off to the dogs we went.

I did 5 & 6 in a reversed forecast all night. Was looking grim until the fourth race, the one we had Sponsored a “Big Dave’s Stag Trophy” and 5 & 6 came in bagging me £37. We also had a trophy to award to the winning owner which was funny

    20130224-160934.jpg

After the dogs we went back into the centre of Nottingham but I only lasted a couple of drinks before flaking out and going back to the hotel. It had been a looooong day and last night had been pretty mental!

Page 53/364 – The Stag Do Day 1

And it’s here finally. Stag Do time in Nottingham. Met up with everyone at what I told everyone was the Hogs Head in Leeds, but when we got there it was The Hourglass. After being told to pack minimum amounts of clothes, it was always going to be messy. Was given my first outfit in the Hourglass…and seeing as though we were going to Hooters later on…I was dressed in this…

    20130224-113242.jpg

It was funny donning all the gear in the toilets at the Hourglass and Craig putting the makeup on whilst the random people were walking in and seeing us.

There were rules too…and I had to be handcuffed to someone different every hour! The lucky ones were the ones who got me early in the day…!

Headed around to the Markets to jump on the bus to Nottingham. Pagey ha turned up with a load of Skittles Vodka and miniature whiskey etc so they ended up being passed around. Nice!

Most of the conversations of the entire weekend are either too lewd or inappropriate to mention here…

Got to the Nottingham Gateway Hotel and checked in and dumped our stuff before hitting the hotel bar for a few games of Free pool and some more beers before jumping in taxis to Hooters. I hit a wall at Hooters but Lawlor sorted me out with Full Fat Coke and shitloads of food. I perked back up.

    20130224-150127.jpg

Then we hit Pitcher & Piano…where the bouncer wouldn’t even let me wear my wig! Boooooooooo!

And there my knowledge of what went down ended. I vaguely remember being handcuffed to Kev for hours and no-one giving us the key! Haha. It was about half 2 when we bailed out and had a pizza back at the hotel.

Page 52/365 : Train arrives in Leeds

Finished up at work for the week today. It’s always nice to stick the Out Of Office on the emails.

Then it was time for a gig I have been looking forward to for absolutely ages! Train were in town at the O2 Academy in Leeds. I’ve always been a small fan, always having songs like Drops Of Jupiter and Ordinary and Calling All Angels on my iPod, but recently I have become a massive fan. After “Drive By” was released I really took an interest, and I absolutely fell in love with “50 Ways To Say Goodbye” which is a fun upbeat track all about a guy lying about what’s happened to the girl who has just split up with him.

The O2 Academy is quite an intimate location for a gig and as such we were never going to be too close to the front after getting there late. Gin Wigmore supported and she was great too.

After Gin, whilst all the roadies set up Train’s equipment, everyone did the pre-gig-shuffle and we managed to get closer.

    Then the lights went out.

And on came Pat singing “50 Ways To Say Goodbye” a cracking way to start the show…and we were off. Hit after hit, song after song. After listening to their “California 37” album non-stop for the last few weeks, I have grown to love some of the songs. “Mermaid” is an awesome tune and Pat had loads of girls up on the stage with him, taking photos with their cameras, “This’ll Be My Year” is another fun one with some serious points in it too and they did it as one of the encore songs.

Most importantly though they sang “Marry Me” which will be a very special song to me and my fiancée shortly…it’s going to be the song Elle walks down the ramp to…oops, I meant Aisle…slight wrestling reference there…!

The whole show was wrapped up with Drops Of Jupiter and it was all a shame it was coming to and end, although Pat probably didn’t think so with his dodgy throat he’d been suffering from.

…and now onto Friday, Saturday and Sunday…Nottingham bound for my Stag Do…it’s gonna be messy!

See you all with a blog on the other side!

Page 51/365 : Back on the road to the playoffs

Heard a story break today that Jack Swagger has been arrested in the states for possession of illegal substances and dangerous driving (dunno if the two are linked or not). Talk about fucking up your big chance in the week after getting a shot at the Wrestlemania main event! That’ll be either Del Rio retaining or Dolph Ziggler cashing in the Money In The Bank briefcase then!

Went to the Leeds game tonight. The ref had a bit of a shocker in the first half, not awarding us a back pass when the Blackpool defender clearly played it back to the Keeper. All was level at half time.

Second half we came out and played even better than we had been in the first half and managed to bag a couple of goals through Norris and Morison. The result leaves us 6 points from the Playoffs now with a game in hand. Just need to kick on from here now really.
