Page 106/365 : The Last Match & Appysnap

Appysnap is BACK! Yes, the most fun you can have with your iPhone is back in business and the fun is ready to begin all over again. I was part of the Original incarnation of Appysnap, but the new version is more socially interactive and much more fun.

The concept is very simple, you just install the app, find your friends who have also downloaded the app, and send them a mission. It may be something as simple as taking a photograph of something Blue, or taking a snap of someone wearing an item of food. The missions are amazingly fun. Some are very easy, some are tough. When you receive a mission, you have a set time to go off and take your photo and submit it and earn your coins. Every now and then, prize missions come a,one with REAL prizes up for grabs.

Seriously, search Appysnap on the iTunes Store…you won’t be disappointed.

Tonight was my final Leeds match of the season. I will be missing the last home game on the 27th as I will be in Las Vegas. New manager McDermott made three changes to the team, dropping Drury, Norris and Morison and bringing in Lees, Tonge and Diouf. I was pleased Morison had been dropped as he had a shocker on Saturday.

Something magical happened in the game…we actually started playing attractive football. We passed the ball well and looked to create chances. In the first half we came quite close a few times. Varney was looking bright again after his two goals on Saturday, and Austin stepped up his game massively. The whole team passed well, but we still couldn’t get that elusive first half goal. It’s been something like 18 games now since we scored in the first half!

In the second we continued to play well and it paid off when Diouf lifted a ball over the too and Austin finished well to take the game 1-0. That proved to be the winning goal and we deserved it. We even had a chant of “We’re passing the ball, we’re passing the ball, we’re Leeds United, we’re passing the ball!”

Ad that’s it, my football season over. Said goodbye to the lads until next year…and we’re now just 6 points off the playoffs…with three games to go…dare to dream! I might have to get the live radio feed on my phone for during the wedding reception on Saturday…

Watched The Following tonight too which was brilliant. But gutted that the next two episodes will have to wait until we’re back from Honeymoon! Booooo!

And The Deadliest Catch was back tonight. There was a catchup episode and the season is back next week. When we’re at Pismo Beach, we’re planning on going to The Cracked Crab which serves up crab actually caught by one of the boats on The Deadliest Catch! Can’t wait!

Page 105/365 : counting down the working days

Horrific scenes in Boston tonight. Some dick has blown up two bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. At last count there were two dead an a load more injured. Just hope it’s not the start of something bigger and more widespread.

Counting down the working days big time now. Just four to go then that out Of Office goes on for three weeks cannot wait for it!

Page 104/365 : Revolution no more

Watched Friday’s episode of Revolution but it is still not grabbing Elle and I. It’s a shame really as I thought it definitely had potential but there just seems like there’s some “Oomph” missing from it that makes me think its going to get any better, and if you’re 4 episodes in and still not actually interested in any of the characters or their stories.

Series link, removed!

Made Elle watch “Labyrinth” for the first time today after ages telling her how awesome it was, a childhood favourite of mine…but she was having none of it. I thought she would have liked it, but hey-hum!

Bought the final present for Elle for the wedding day…obviously I can’t say what it is but she’ll find out on Saturday!

Writing this as I am laid in bed watching the Dodgers @ Diamondbacks game. It’s bottom of the 5th with no score….something needs to be stepped up soon!

Page 103/365 : One Week

Up nice and early this morning. Had a trip over to Batley to Elle’s hairdresser’s to get my hair sorted out after the general impression was that the Mister Gee’s cut just didn’t…well…cut it. The hairdresser was actually outraged by it but it was soon put right after a wash and cut and a trim down…and it was rescued :

Went back home and it was time for the Leeds game. Now lately, form has been a bit shit and with us now looking over outer shoulders at a potential relegation battle, this derby match against Sheff Weds needed to be won…so typically it didn’t look to be our day when we went 1-0 down in the first half after Warnock stuttered on his tracking back and the ball was lifted over Paddy Kenny for the opening goal. It looked like new manager Brian McDermott (no not the Leeds Rhinos manager) had a lot to do at halftime…

…and second half, we did it. Albeit by dodging a few scares where Wednesday could have easily win the game but we were saved by the post and a few goalmouth scrambles. But then up steps Luke Varney and two headed goals to turn the match around into a win…a much overdue win. McDermott (the Leeds United on, not the Rhinos one) celebrated and it was good to see another passionate manager. It could be the start of a beautiful relationship.

Elle and I chilled out for most of the evening. Watched Britain’s Got Talent which was great too. There was some genuinely awesome acts and I am not ashamed to admit that I cried when Attraction did this :

Just one week to the wedding now…can’t wait for it all to take place next Saturday!

Getting giddy now. This time next week will be the last day as an unmarried man before our wedding on Saturday. Looking forward to it so much.

Been getting a bit giddy at work but there’s still a week to go! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

Watched Red Riding Hood for the first time, which was quite good and actually not all that predictable, which I thought it might be.

Elle fell asleep whilst we watched Royle Family so I stuck Dead Island on and got a good couple of hours play on that and progressed somewhat.

Last night in the baseball, The Dodgera won but not before a huge brawl broke out when Greinke pitched a ball straight at the Padres battery’s head. Carlos Quentin took offence and charged at Greinke who ended up with a broken collarbone. An all out battle ensued with both bullpens involved. It was quite funny, but the Dodgers losing a star pitcher is not.

Leeds United names Brian McDermott as manager today. Time will tell with that one and we’ll see if anything comes from it. We just need to win to avoid the misery of being too close to the Relegation Zone!!!

Finally for my wedding haircut in today although the overall thought is that it’s not short enough (excuse the pouting) :

Didn’t really get up to much else today. A fairly quiet one. Just 6 working days left now…eek! Can’t wait!

20130410-220558.jpg

Here we are…Triple figures finally with the 100th day of the year and the 100th blog….yes there’s been some more in between, but for the full 100 days so far I have done my blog…And Lawlor didn’t think I would make it to a month!

It’s been quite an eventful 100 days but the next 28 will be amazing. Coming up in 9 days we have our Wedding, followed by a two night mini-moon, a one-night airport stay and a two week Honeymoon through Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Pismo Beach…it’s gonna be an eventful 4 weeks from here on in.

Today has been quite funny. Following all the chaos of yesterday with everyone posting videos of the Fandango singing/dancing etc, the theme tune has gone into the official charts! iTunes currently has the track at number 11…brilliant…I paid the 99p for it…

20130410-221057.jpg

It’s also been a day of getting carried away with Meme’s. Here’s a few I fired out :

They made me chuckle anyway.

Elle had an email today from the Registrar for the wedding saying that we hadn’t paid, when we have…PANIIIIIIIC…but luckily they found the money they had clearly misplaced! Great admin you have there Kirklees….

Went to TGI Fridays after work for Claire’s pregnancy leaving do. I had Wings & Ribs to get me into training for Vegas.

Caught up with this week’s episode of The Following which I thought was one of the best yet.

So that’s it. Let the fun next 28 days roll on through and hopefully you’ll be here every step of the way.

Page 99/365 : Durm Durm, Dum Dum Dum Durm Dum…

Watched WWE Raw this morning. Wow……..Dolph Ziggler cashed in the Money In The Bank and won the title from Del Rio…what a moment. He’s had the MITB briefcase for ages and teased it a few times but finally he cashed it in successfully. I am a big Ziggler fan and think he’s the future of the WWE. I just hope they use him well with the title. It sent the crowd into an absolute frenzy…and the mentalness didn’t stop there.

Fandango came out for a match, and all of a sudden, the entire crowd started singing his theme tune. In one fail swoop, he’s over with the fans. Everyone is talking about it and there’s videos all over the internet.

Like this one :

fandango

Planned a few places to eat when over in Vegas tonight…looking at menus is just making usmassively hungry…not good. Can’t wait to be out there and eating in some of these places. Bubba Gump Shrimp Company….mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Played a bit of TV catchup tonight too as well as finally finishing off watching Rock Of Ages…thinking about getting tickets for the show in Vegas.

Page 98/365 : Short day, Long day

Only worked half day today at work after staying up for Wrestlemania last night.

Felt like a really long day though and feeling quite tired because of it all.

Played catchup on Sky+. We’ve gotta get the programmes watched and down as far as possible ready for when we go away. There’s nothing worse than coming back off holiday to a tonne of “Part Rec” or “Clashed” or “Failed” on the planner.

Just 9 working days left. Can’t wait!

Page 97/365 : Wrestlemania 29

It’s that time of Year again….time for the biggest event In the Wrestling calendar as Wrestlemania 29 from New York/New Jersey was set to go down.

I have long been a wrestling fan, and was lucky enough a few years ago to go to Orlando to my first Wrestlemania, 24, and absolutely loved every minute of it and was hooked, after that I went to Houston for 25, missed 26, but went to 27 in Atlanta. The atmosphere and fun around a Wrestlemania is amazing. There’s nothing like it.

This year, the big apple was sharing with NJ for the prestigious event. It had all the usual makings of a fantastic event…but how would it pan out?

In the pre-show, The Miz defeated Wade Barrett for the IC title in a pretty decent match. It was actually fair play to the WWE for putting a pre-show title change in the show.

Then it was onto Sky Box Office for the main event. Usually, Mania kicks off with “America The Beautiful” but there was none of that this year…maybe Lillian Garcia was losing her voice or something.

First match up was The Shield being victorious over Randy Orton, Sheamus and The Big Show after Orton tagged into the match, pissing off Show. They lost and Big Show took it out on Orton & Sheamus…same old, same old then…!

The second match saw Mark Henry squash Ryback…literally. In what seemed like a botched move, Ryback was flattened and soon finished by Mark Henry. This all seemed a bit odd as to why they would give Henry the win here? Having Ryback being a dominant force all year then not pick up a win seemed very strange…maybe Ryback had knocked Steph off or something and HHH forced him to lose…we’ll probably never know!

Next up, Team Hell No defeated Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston to retain the tag belts. Again, this seemed another odd choice. Ziggler and Big E have been working together well and the natural thing would have been to give them the titles…but maybe they want to put the World Heavyweight Title on Ziggler soon…..who knows?

Fandango finally made his debut next, defeating Jericho…although the “Jericho Curse” seemed to strike again and the ending was somewhat botched. Fandango didn’t lie in the correct position which meant Jericho overshot the Lionsault and it was a bit of a scramble to get Fandango the win. Also, not sure why the WWE felt that Fandango deserved a Mania match for a debut…

Del Rio beat Swagger next…well, actually, Swagger beat Swagger. I am convinced that if he had not had his well-publicised fuck up earlier in the year, they would have given him the win but to no avail. And Ziggler didn’t come out to cash in…damn!

Then came the match of the Night…The Undertaker Vs CM Punk. It was another typical Taker Mania match which could have gone any way. Elle wanted Punk to win, I wanted Taker. In the end they kept the streak intact in a very explosive match with lots of near falls.

HHH retained his career next in a battle with Brock Lesnar. It wasn’t pretty and the fans. We’re pretty much dead after the Taker/Punk match but they did the job.

And then to round it all off, Cena took Rock’s title from him. It was a slow burner at first but gathered speed as it went along. They were doing each others’ moves (which is like some Wrestlemania Main Event Law or something) and it could’ve gina any way…but The Rock probably has a movie to film…so it was always going to be Cena.

All in all, it wasn’t the greatest PPV ever, and definitely not the best Mania ever but it was well worth staying up until 4am for…and even Elle managed to stay awake for the duration, something I am very proud about….

Now….how much are the flights to New Orleans for next year….!

In other news, Woolly Mammoth the Geocache Trackable has been picked up and is on his journeys again! Good times.
