Page 154/365 : GoT! OMG! WTF?

*WARNING! WARNING!* The following post contains spoilers about tonight’s episode of Game Of Thrones, Episode 9 of Season 3…if you haven’t seen it yet, then don’t read on….this is your only warning…you have been warned!

Well tonight, Episode 9 went out on Sky Atlantic. This morning I had accidentally seen a bit of a buzz on Twitter about the episode, but luckily managed to not see what happened. And I am pleased.

What an episode. Ron Stark attending the wedding he failed to be part of himself, only for it all to go completely tits up when everyone was double-crossed and Rob’s pregnant girlfriend was stabbed in the stomach killing her, Rob was downed with an arrow before being killed with a knife to the chest, then Mrs Stark, Rob’s Mum took a blade across the throat, killing her.

Now the Undertaker-imitating kid is next in line in the North!

What an episode. Mix in the blonde dragon girl laying siege to a city with the hell of an insider, and Hound rescuing the boy/girl and it was a corker!

You wouldn’t think I hadn’t watched an episode until two weeks ago would you? Now I love it!

In other news today, it was an odd day at wok with hardly anyone in the office after everyone left on Friday.

This afternoon, to entertain ourselves, we had Polo-Sucking championships. Yup, who could hold a polo in their mouths the longest….I was shit at it. Trevor picked up the win though.

Then we did it with a Refresher, which is much harder to do than the Polo as it dissolves. I was in the top few but it was Karen who did best. So with Trevor and Karen both winning and both being managers/supervisors, it’s easy to see what kind of things get you moving up the career ladder πŸ˜‰

Slimming World tonight. First time in two weeks and put a pound on. Will settle for that. Started doing my spreadsheet again. I need to because it really helps. Fingers crossed it starts to drop off off again!

Well it looks like my claim to be the next Doctor Who stirred things up. Had a bit influx of visitors yesterday, and even Real Radio Breakfast Show’s Gayle said she would back me! Haha.

Can you imagine me on BBC every week without my arse showing like it was on Total Wipeout?!?

Today we go up dead early and headed over to the Airport car boot before going to Dewsbury Rams for the one there too. I bought Call Of Duty Black Ops hardened edition, the WWE Encyclopaedia, Mindtrap game, and two packs of Top Trumps. Only spent Β£7.50 in total. Bargain!

Did see this however. Imagine stuffing those pockets with different types of sweets and going to the cinema. You could be your own walking talking Pick n Mix man!

Page 152/365 : The Next Doctor Who?

So the news has Broken. Matt Smith is stepping down as Doctor Who.

Read the Radio Times story here

Smith, the Eleventh Doctor (or the 12th is the John Hurt one slips into the listings somewhere in the 50th anniversary special), is hanging up the jacket and Bowtie and handing over the keys to the famous blue box to someone else.

Speculation is bound to be rife in the next few weeks/months. Who will the next doctor be? Will it be a woman? Will he be young or old? Will we see the first Black Doctor Who?

Its safe to say that the new Doctor Who…to replace Matt Smith in 2014 has to be fun, daring, frantic, appealable to all, and more importantly than anything else, Awesome….therefore I am throwing MY name into the hat and saying that I, David Woollin will be the next Doctor Who.

Think about it…a Fat Doctor Who, roaming the universe and time in search of the perfect Kebab and pint combination. Taking trips back to Wrestlemania 1 to see where it all began. Visiting heroes such as Chesney Hawkes and Wolf from Gladiators. Using my Sonic Screwdriver to make that Β£10,000 counter fall off the shelf of Tipping Point…

It’s all there, the makings of the future. Geniusnessness at the fingertips of Steven Moffatt who just needs to make the call. I would like to think I would be a housewives favourite and geek-fan-friendly all at the same time.

Make it happen.

Make Fat Doctor Who happen.

Make it ME!

In fact, here’s me doing various “Poses” to really get the feel or the character.

Here’s “Puzzled” :

And now “Shocked” :

And the ever-faithful “now where the bloody hell did I leave that Tardis?” :

Page 151/364 – Goodbye to workmates

Bit of a strange day at work today as all the Management Accounts, Accounts Payable and Credit Control departments were leaving. I had been in Credit Control until last year so it was sad to see everyone getting upset and leaving.

Went for a drink or two after work with them.

Watched a shocking film tonight. Read the Blog before this one to see my review of The Darkest Day.

Film #1214 Review : The Darkest Day

When an average business trip for a couple of techie-geeks goes seriously tits up and an electrically-charged Alien being wipes out almost every person in Moscow, you know it just ain’t your day.

The Darkest Hour (which strangely covers a period of about 48 hours) just feels like an amateur production from the outset.

The post-apocalyptic storyline just isn’t engaging, characters are about as deep as a puddle and minor characters are pointlessly put into the story for minimal reason.

There’s a couple of sparks of clever, such as our heroes carrying bulbs with them everywhere they go to alert them in a kind of Gas Budgie In A Cage move, but there’s just no real terror that builds as the evil force continues to track and chase the main characters.

The problem is, everything just feels as though it was written by a first-timer and scenes where we meet a mad Russian Electrician in a cage or a band of mercenaries just add to the silliness of the entire thing.

I wouldn’t be recommending anyone to watch this unless there was literally nothing else on.

Page 150/365 : Poorly Dave

Eurgh!

Stomach still in pain this morning. Not good. Woke up a few times through the night and hadn’t got too much sleep. Phoned docs in the morning (because I never got the Emergency appointment last night) and got an appointment for the afternoon. Phoned work and told them I wouldn’t be in. Being hunched over a desk all day wasn’t going to help it.

Went to docs and he said it wasn’t anything too serious and that he thought I had possibly torn the muscle just at the bottom of my sternum and that was what was causing the pain and not to worry too much about it but to try not to exert it too much.

Should be back in work tomorrow.

Whilst I was off, I watched the rest of that Magic 101 Greatest Movie Songs programme, and here’s my thoughts :

39 – Back To The Future – The Power Of Love – Hewy Lewis & The News – Now here we go. One of my all time favourite movies and an absolutely cracking song to tie up with it. I am a little disappointed it was so far down at 39. But then when you think they’re singing about the Power Of Love in a film where a mother falls in love with her son…hmmmmm

38 – Up Close & Personal – Because You Lover Me – Celine Dion – having never seen the film I cannot comment. But anything Celine is sweet so this is OK being this far down.

37 – Sliver – Can’t Help Falling In Love – UB40 – Said Grease on the screen…guess that means the next song will be a Grease one then…

36 – Grease – Hopelessly Devoted To You – Olivia Newton-John – here it is. And I am going to go out on a limb here an say that this is my favourite song from Grease. It’s sweet and endearing, even if there’s a dodgy watery image of John Travolta near the end. Shame there won’t be any Grease 2 tracks in this countdown. Now there’s a film!

35 – City Of Angels – Iris – Goo Goo Dolls – again, not seen the film but this song is massively iconic. Didn’t realise it had been used in a flick. Might have to see the film now then just to check it out.

34 – Notting Hill – When You Say Nothing At All – Ronan Keating – The Boyzone crooner hit the nail on the head with this one. It’s another sweet song and a small budget video but it just works.

33 – The Beach – The Beach – All Saints – An annoying song and a very boring film but I do have bad memories of it being out whilst I worked at the cinema and seeing the ending about 400 times.

32 – Dangerous Minds – Gangsta’s Paradise – Coolio – one of those songs which fits in with the film so well. They nailed this.

31 – The Prince Of Egypt – Whitney & Mariah – When You Believe – Its so Disney I am surprised the two warblers weren’t wearing Mickey Mouse ears! Cheese fest.

30 – Batman Forever – Kiss From A Rose – Seal – Not sure how this song ever because associated with the Batman film. It just doesn’t seem to fit. I am gonna have to look it up!

29 – Beaches – Wing Beneath My Wings Bette Midler – Argh! One of those annoying films my mum always watched and I hated. Sentimental girlie bullshit.

28 – The Woman In Red – I Just Called To Say I Loved You – Stevie Wonder – Didn’t realise this was linked to a film. And in all honesty I don’t know what film it is. Good song though.

27 – Flashdance – Flashdance – Irene Cara – What a tune. It’s cheesy but it was made for the film therefore it works spot on. It builds well although it will always remind me of The Full Monty instead…and when she dances in the leotard…it was a bloke for some of it! Haha

26 – The Lion King – Can You Feel The Love Tonight – Elton John – Awwwww Lion King is back and the lovely relationship between Simba & Nala is the background for this. Love the song, love the film.

25 – Saturday Night Fever – How Deep Is Your Love – The Bee Gees – The bearded ones are back. Not a massive fan to be fair and never seen the film.

24 – Bridget Jones’ Diary – Out Of Reach – Gabrielle – Ok, confession time…I quite like Bridget Jones and I am actually looking forward to the third film if its ever made!!

23 – Stardust – Rule The World – Take That – a song that is better than the film by a very long shot. Poorly done film that’s just not entertaining at all.

22 – Top Gun – Show Me Heaven – Maria McKee – another controversial moment….I don’t like Top Gun. It’s just too wanky. I don’t mind Tom Cruise in these types of role as they’re what he’s suited for, but something about it just didn’t grab me. Cute song though.

21 – Philadelphia – Streets Of Philadelphia – Bruce Springsteen – Not a massive fan of the song, or The Boss for that matter, but what a film. Tom Hanks at his finest.

20 – Dreamgirls – Listen – Beyonce – Don’t know the song and not seen the film. Beyonce annoys me no end! Argh!

19 – Dirty Dancing – She’s Like The Wind – Patrick Swayze – what a shit film! There I said it. I have seen the stage show and that is more impressive though. This song is that annoying break in the middle of the film too and I just don’t think the song flows that well. Annoying more than anything else.

18 – Pearl Harbour – There You’ll Be – Faith Hill – Seriously? Does this deserve to be above all those below? Really? No, it doesn’t. It’s not an amazing film, and the song is alright but surely there’s better than this below in the list!

17 – Rocky 3 – Eye Of The Tiger – Survivor – And BOOM! There we have it. One of the most inspiring and powerful movie tracks ever. Everyone knows the link to the film and that’s the key to a movie song. Love it.

16 – Goldeneye – Goldeneye – Tina Turner – Gotta say that of the recent Bonds, THIS tune is one of the best. It brought Bond back to the big screen and needed a killer song and it delivered.

15 – Evita – Don’t Cry For Me Argentina – Madonna – Taken straight from the film, this is a song and a half. Although I have to say it is better seen within the context of the film. Much more powerful.

14 – Stand By Me – Stand By Me – Ben E King – Used perfectly in a film all about camaraderie and friendship. Serves a purpose brilliantly

13 – Coyote Ugly – Can’t Fight The Moonlight – Leanne Rimes – Not quite sure who decided this song needed to be in this film, but still. The video is nice πŸ˜‰

12 – Four Weddings & A Funeral – Love Is All Around – Wet Wet Wet – Iconic film, iconic song. To be fair I probably couldn’t name another Wet Wet Wet song…!

11 – Mannequin – Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now – Starship – Awwwww, we had this as our first dance at our wedding. Great video too. Mixes the film clips and the band messing about really well. Deserves this spot in the list.

10 – My Girl – My Girl – Temptations – The film is very much one of those really annoying films where kids who speak like they’re adults are the main star. Damn I hate it.

9 – Grease – Summer Lovin’ – Travolta & Newton-John – Better as part of the megamix in my mind. It’s cute and fun.

8 – Top Gun – Take My Breath Away – Berlin – a much better song from Top Gun. Love this. Cheesy as hell but every time you hear it takes you to this film.

7 – Dirty Dancing – The Time Of My Life – Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes – So here we go, I don’t particularly love Dirty Dancing but this song is perfect. Brings about so many memories of the film for people.

6 – Armageddon – I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing – Aerosmith – WHAT A TUNE! My favourite song of all time from my favourite film of all time. Oh my god…makes me cry every time!

5 – Pretty Woman – It Must’ve Been Love – Roxette – Awesome tune. It’s a good film and this song is perfect.

4 – Ghost – Unchained Melody – Righteous Brothers – One of those here they’ve just stuck an old song into a film and it ended up being iconic. Yes it’s good but it’s not a Movie Song as such. Boo!

3 – The Bodyguard – I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston – Credit where it’s due here. Big song and perfect as she was in the film herself. Quite enjoy this.

2 – Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves – Everything I Do – Bryan Adams – Remember when this was at number one forever???? Yup. It’s a good tune and works well with the film. Video fits in nicely too.

1 – Titanic – My Heart Will Go On – Celine Dion – This will ALWAYS win these lists. It’s as iconic as the film itself mainly because the tune is used almost throughout the entire film! And a bit like the film, it needs to get about halfway through before it properly kicks in. Love it.

Now, it’s a shame they didn’t do a countdown of best movie tunes, as up there would be the Forrest Gump theme, Back To The Future theme, and my personal favourite, the Jurassic Park theme music!

Now that would be a countdown worth watching!

Woollin Mammoth the Geocaching Trackable thingy got moved from cache to cache on Prince Edward Island again today. Good times.

Page 149/365 : A right pain in the…belly

Had a bitch of a pain in the stomach today. Comes on after eating (it’s not heartburn before you say). Phoned the new NHS Direct number tonight but still not had the call back from the doctors for the out of hours appointment. Pain has gone off though so just gonna go tomorrow to my normal docs.

Caught up with Deadliest Catch, WWE Raw, Peter Andre and some of the Extreme Couponing tonight too.

Pretty boring one really.

Elle’s Mum & Dave are in Blackpool and bumped into Dick n Dom in the tower. They didn’t speak to them though. Wonder if they still remember me and the Truffle Shuffle…?

Page 148/365 : Catching Up With The Game

Back to work after the long weekend but I felt sick all day. So much so I didn’t eat my dinner…not like me at all.

Looked into the details of the Zombie Run. Can’t wait for that. Decided against staying over in Manchester for it, this saving Β£70. Will just come back to Leeds on the late bus.

Watched episodes 6, 7 & 8 of season 3 of Game Of Thrones to fully bring everything up to date and in time with everyone else who has been watching it. It certainly is epic. Shame there’s only two episodes left in the series.

Watched last week’s Apprentice which was funny too. Dunno who went on this week’s but it clashed on the Sky+ planner so will watch on Demand at some point.

Oh and Elle picked these up today. Good times :

Page 147/365 : Ants in your….tent!

Woke up earlyish at Lawlor’s. Downloaded The Sun first thing…I do like reading the newspaper first thing on a morning on the iPad!

Chilled out for a bit before nipping out to Maccy D’s for breakfast, although it was 11 so we had to have normal stuff.

Left Lawlor’s about quarter to 1 and went straight to the Clough House in Rastrick for tea, meeting up with Amy & Tom. Had a lovely meal. Been there a couple of times and absolutely loved it. It was yummy. I had the Mushroom Soup to start with, Steak for main and a cheese board for pudding. Loved it.

Went back home and had fun when we went in the house and realised that we must’ve brought a load of Ants back with us with the Tent. We’d dumped the tent at the house on Sunday morning before heading to Lawlor’s, but there were loads of the little buggers everywhere.

Derek back home with us now too. He was being a little shit to start with but then calmed down. Bless him.

Watched another 4 episodes of Game Of Thrones, taking us to the end of Episode 5 of Season 3…just a few more to go now to be completely up to date…can’t wait!

Page 146/365 : A Bud Light day

Up n about earlyish.

Had to get the tent packed up and away ready to head off.

Headed to Tadcaster Tesco Extra and found the Bud Light. Stocked up for later.

Went home and dropped off all the camping equipment before heading down to Lawlor’s.

Got to Wales for around quarter to 2. Lawlor was made up with the Bud Lights which was always gonna happen. We went out and bought a big black bin and a load of ice and filled it up and all the Bud Lights went in there.

Had a cracking BBQ put on by Lawlor. There was me and Elle, Lawlor, Ash n Jess, Daniker & Simon, Laura, Ray & Les and one of Lawlor’s workmates.

Great day.
