2016.1.14 – RIP Alan Rickman

What a week it’s been for bad news in the celebrity world. First Bowie and now Alan Rickman leaves us. 

What an actor Rickman was. I think my first ever viewing of him in anything would have to be Robin Hood Prince If Thieves where he played the Sheriff Of Nottingham. Sly, snivelling and evil…he played it so well. 

Then I remember him as Hans Gruber, terrorist elite in Die Hard. His mocking tone, teasing Bruce Willis’ John McLane at any opportunity. 

We journey through small films like “Blow Dry” (filmed in Yorkshire with Josh Hartnett doing a Yorkshire accent that I swear he picked up from me at a party – a story for another time), to bigger budgets in Dogma, Love Actually, Harry Potter…and of course Galaxy Quest, a personal favourite of mine. 

A fantastic actor with a uniquely sounding voice which was adopted by many. 

“By Grabthar’s hammer, you shall be avenged!”

2016.1.16 – Through The Keyhole

So today was a day a month in the making. 

Back in December we went to a work colleague’s house to film some footage. I had edited it all together, adding music in etc and today was the unveiling of the office Through The Keyhole. 

  
We have started having Quarterly meetings where the whole department gets together and we celebrate together and learn about what others in the department have been up to and where we are going etc. But we also have a fun element to it. 

Now I’ve got the gold jacket, I’ve got the reputation…so I was involved in the group organising the fun. 

Back in December we went to the house of a colleague (I’m not saying who yet as we’ve got another session of this meeting next week and I don’t wanna ruin the surprise) and armed with no real script and just a video camera. 

We started filming some stuff in and around the garage but it was hard to get into the flow. But once we went inside, all the ideas started to flow and we had a good laugh with it. 

This week I’ve done my first ever bit of video editing. Using the joyous programme that is Windows Movie Maker (yeah it’s like using paint when everyone else is using Photoshop), I managed to whip something together. 

So to the unveiling today and it went down pretty well thankfully. There were a few awkward silences in the bits where it just genuinely wasn’t funny but some of the main bits got some genuine laughs. 

Luckily we got lots of decent feedback about it after too…maybe I’ve missed my calling….

2016.1.12 – In the cutting room

Spent the night finishing off something for work tonight. 

Tomorrow we’re having a Quarterly event at work and part of it is us hosting a game of Through The Keyhole. 

Back in December we went to one of our colleague’s houses and filmed a whole variety of videos around the house. We certainly had a laugh with it. 

So fingers crossed that it all goes well tomorrow…it’s going to be massively cringeworthy and silly, but it would be nice to have at least a few laughs out of it. 

Also…Windows Movie Maker really doesn’t have that many functions to help putting something like this together.

I could really do with a decent laptop with some power behind it as well as some decent video editing software that I can get to grips with.

2016.1.11 – RAC 4 Life

It was a little frosty this morning. The car looked like a snowball with all the frost. 

Getting inside, I feared the worst, and turned the key…chug chug chug dead…chug chug chug dead…its been working the third time….surely…chug chug chug dead! Joy!

Engine was cutting out whilst starting. Tried revving it and it worked…but as soon as I dropped the revs, engine cut out. 

So I phoned the RAC. I get cover through my bank account. I have one of those fee-paying accounts but I get car cover, mobile phone cover etc…

Eventually the RAC came out.  

 
After trying everything and hooking me up to the diagnostics and not finding anything wrong, the guy looked at the engine. There’s some kind of idle thing that was blocked with gunk. He cleared that and it meant it allowed air through when in idle…and off we went! Good times. All hail the RAC…I expect it’ll do the same in the morning…!

Also…Sabotage! I feel dirty. I feel wrong…and it’s all R2D2’s fault. Mark at work has this little thing on his desk.  

  
 It dispenses the tiniest sweets. Mark pushed it and it did it…I pushed it and it did it. 

  

Then I ate the sweet. Just one tiny little sweet. I was drawn in by R2D2…and seconds later I had blown by “no choc, no fizzy pop, no sweets” vow for the whole of January. 

I feel violated. Self-violated…but I’m sure this one sweet won’t ruin it all…but if it does…I want you all to know…it was R2D2’s fault! The little metallic shit!

2016.1.10 – the 11lb kickstart

So I got weighed in last weekend and was the heaviest I have ever been. I weighed in at a massive 25st 11 & 2/3 lb. 

but this week I have been hardcore on the old Slimming World diet. Counting my Syns, having my A’s and B’s and it’s working a treat all over again. 

11lb lost in a week. I’ll take that.

2016.1.9 – FA miss

Leeds played Rotherham in the FA Cup today. I didn’t go. Yeah, I know, shame on me…but it was £20 for a ticket and I left it to the last minute and then when it came to it I just thought that I could do with that £20 instead of going to the match.

Instead, I followed the game by Twitter. Phil Hay’s tweets popping up on my screen all afternoon. It felt like I was playing Championship Manager ’93 or something. Ah the nostalgia…

  
Leeds won though. A goal at the end of the first half from new player Mustapha Carayol and one at the end of the second half from Doukara meant Leeds progressed to the 4th Round. 

Had Louise & Laura come around whilst the football was on with my niece Megan. Megan and Althea were playing all afternoon.  It was really sweet. We hooked them up to the GoPro camera too and recorded them playing. It was cute. I’ll get the video edited together soon.

2016.1.8 – Back

So looking after Althea after work today and I’m down on the floor playing with toys with her…I go to get up and…Crick…back goes. 

I literally couldn’t get up off the floor.

Luckily I could move around the floor and scoot around after her but that was it. It meant she was safe, which was good but it wasn’t ideal. 

Luckily Elle’s mum n stepdad were nearby and came and helped me get back into a sitting position then they stayed to help look after Althea until Elle got home. 

Night on the sofa for me!

2016.1.7 – Juan Sheet

What a day to be alive. 

I met “Juan Sheet” from the Plenty adverts. He was in ASDA house doing a bit of promotion. I had to have a selfie with him!

Started watching Heroes from Day 1 today. I stopped just into series 3 so really need to get back on it before the new series starts. 4 seasons to fly through…unfortunately Kodi on th Fire Stick was playing silly buggers so it’s not happened tonight. Will get on it though. 

Lent someone at work my Gold Jacket for an event they needed it for. How am I going to host Deal Or No Deal in the office tomorrow without it? It’s just not going to be the same.

2016.1.6 – Big Brother anyone?

Nah not the Celebrity one I banged on about last night…but the REAL Big Brother is looking for victims for another series. 

I auditions years ago for it. It was back for Series 5 I believe. The auditions were happening at the CoOp building in Manchester. Got up about 5am and walked across Manchester on what had to be THE coldest day ever. 

Waited in line and got chatting to the rest of the freaks in the queue. It was a real eye opener.

I didn’t get seen until about half 10. They pulled 6 of us in front of a researcher and then one by one we had to come out to the front and talk about why we would be good for Big Brother. At the time I wasn’t quite as outgoing as I am now…I didn’t have that showman side to me so it very much went like me just chatting about why I would be a laugh in there and how I’d end up being a shoulder to cry on etc. It was really shit and I definitely didn’t put myself out there as much as I should. 

After everyone had done their bit, we had to line up and hold out our hands. If we got a stamp on the hand, we were through…

…I didn’t get one. 

And my Big Brother dream was over. 

But now…now would be a whole different story……..!

Now do I go for it now…?

2016.1.5 – Celebrity Big Brother 2016

It’s baaaaaaack

So what kind of crazy offerings does this year have..there’s been lots of rumours that it could be the most explosive house ever…so here’s this year’s contestants going into the house for a month of madness…

There’s 16 going into the vaudevillian looking house…it’ll soon get ruined…Big Brother has locked everything away and the Celebs are going to have to work for things to get them.

Housemate #1 – Gemma Collins…best known for…being the one who bottled out of I’m A Celebrity the other year. Hate…please evict British public!

Housemate #2 – Johnny Partridge…best known for being Christian from Eastenders and being gay…might be OK unless he goes all diva-ish on everyone and just argues over cleanliness all the time…he says people might not like him because he doesn’t like himself most of the time…yeah…get out!

Housemate #3 – Daniella Westbrook…best known for being a bitch with half her nose missing…oh and she was in Eastenders as well…She’s going to be super argumentative in there…looks like they’re definitely looking for people to clash big time this year.

Housemate #4 – Christopher Maloney…best known for his nan…he was on the X Factor and is a right wet lettuce…but he was mates with a certain Daniella Westbrook and it broke down and she now hates him…interesting…

Housemate #5 – Tiffany someone or other from “the Flavor Of Love”…they had to show a clip so we knew who she was. She’s clearly a complete and utter bitch and is in there for one reason…to argue…seeing a pattern here…?

Housemate #6 – Darren Day…best known for always being in the papers and then disappearing from the world ever since…bit of a playboy…lived the life…might be a contender to win this.

Housemate #7 – Megan McKenna…known from Ex On The Beach…absolute psycho….seriously demented…she’s REALLY nice until she gets drunk and then she just loses it massively and turns into a vile creature…will end up shagging a certain Geordie lad if he goes in…oh and yeah…I love Ex On The Beach…

Housemate #8 – Winston McKenzie…known for being an ex boxer and also a member of every single political party going…clearly a dick..end of

Now Big Brother made “the most decisive” housemate choose two people to go to “The Box”. John Partridge chose himself, then Darren Day put himself forward to share his box with him….oo-er! They then had to decide who wasn’t getting their clothes…Winston, Christopher and Daniella missed out…unlucky.

Housemate #9 – David Gest…best known for name-dropping everyone ever…and being very close to Matt Willis during I’m A Celebrity years ago! Basically 50% of what comes out of his mouth is name-dropping and 50% is complete and utter bullshit! Will go far in this but wont win!

Housemate #10 – Scotty T! He’s hilarious in Geordie Shore…he’s going to be brilliant in Big Brother…here’s your winner…right here…Scotty T…get your money on him now! He’ll shag Megan…end of!

Housemate #11 – Kristinia Rhianiov (or something like that)…best known for having a name that’s hard to spell…also an ex Strictly dancer. Bit of an unknown entity here…could go either way.

Housemate #12 – Jonathan Cheban or something…seems like he has no actual redeeming quality at all…move along

Housemate #13 – Angela Bowie…known for being David Bowie’s ex wife…not sure what she’s going to be like…she might argue..a lot..and cause arguments…meh! Won’t win

Housemate #14 – Stephanie Davies…known for getting pissed and getting sacked from Hollyoaks…standard…might get on well with Scotty T…wait? What? Megan stay back psycho bitch!

Housemate #15 – Jeremy McConnell…male model covered in tattoos. Loves himself. Could be quite funny. Might start a bromance with Scotty T

Housemate #16 – Nancy Delalallalalalalaio – Yeah…her…famous for one thing…shagging Sven. not really liked by the British public…out soon no doubt.

…and now for the final twist of the night…the two in the box got to choose whether they let the Housemates have Luxury food, or take it themselves…naturally they did the right thing and gave it to the housemates…extra brownie points for John & Darren.
