2016.2.7 – Cousins and Sleepy films

Had my Niece Megan over for a few hours today to play with Althea. They had loads of fun. We went to play in the new park that’s just been built on the Moor near us.

Attempted to watch The Revenant tonight…fell asleep during it so need to pick it back up tomorrow. Was really enjoying it though.

Tried a KFC Rice Dish thing today too. The BBQ Pulled Chicken one is only 4.5 syns on Slimming World and it’s highly recommended.

2016.2.6 – Cineworld Secret Screening

So tonight was the night for the Cineworld secret screening of a film.

Rumour has gone around that it was definitely a film which was an upcoming film that was going to be shown (not a classic).

The hopes were that it would be Deadpool…but unfortunately when the lights went down, we all despaired when it was “Triple 9” instead.

Triple 9 was a film I literally knew zero about. I’ve not seen any trailers or anything.

So it was good to see some familiar faces pop up in the opening scenes.

The film is essentially a story of Cops n Robbers, but in this story, the cops ARE the robbers.

A bunch of corrupt cops begin planning heists, all ordered by Russian Mafia, who are blackmailing one of the gang.

But when one of the heists takes the groups into dangerous territory.
Great casting, great story with plenty of twists and turns.

2016.2.1 – Say Hello to 2016.2

February is here already. Everyone’s favourite month. Own up to it, come on, there’s something extremely quirky about the 28 dayer…especially as it’s a 29-dayer this year.

My mobile phone contract is up tomorrow. It’s time to upgrade…but here’s the thing…I’m really not that fussed about upgrading to the iPhone 6…yeah…I said it…it feels just slightly too big. I think the 5s was perfect though.

Gonna speak to them tomorrow about my options. Ideally I want to keep this handset but pay minimal for my contract. I’ll have to see what I can do

2016.1.31 – the first month

Not just the first month of 2016 but the first month of my diet.

Went back onto the Slimming World diet and really hit it hardcore.

Also decided that January would be fizzy pop, chocolate, sweets and crisps free and I was 99.9% good (I had a tiny sweet I documented in my blog and I did finish off some Diet Coke we had in right at the beginning of the month!

But other than that…perfect.

And I have definitely felt better for it. The dropping of the fizzy pop was probably the best thing. Felt a lot better with not having that.

So I got on the scales this morning and I have now lost 19.5lb since I started at the beginning of the month…I’ll take that!

Goal for February….1st loss!

FINALLY!

Back to a Leeds United away day. It’s been a few years since I last went to an away match.
This time it was the FA Cup 4th round over in Bolton.
I wanted to get over there in good time so I didn’t have to mess about getting parked up.

The weather was a bit grim over the top.

Eventually got to the Macron.

Was there way too early so headed off around the retail park behind. Wasn’t doing any shopping but just walked around to rack up plenty of steps on the FitBit.

I’d brought my dinner with me to stop me buying a dirty burger so snaffle that in the car before heading in and finding my seat.

It was absolutely freezing inside the ground.

It felt good to be back at an away day again.

It felt even better on 8 minutes when Doukara scored and put us 1-0 up.

We were playing OK without being massively in control of anything.

I nipped down for a bottle of water just before half time and missed Diagouraga’s first goal for Leeds to take us to 2-0. It felt awesome going into a 2 goal lead at half time.

In the second half we didn’t really push enough for a third and with ten minutes to go we got punished and let Bolton score. Luckily we held on even though there were a couple of scares and we progress through to the 5th round of the cup…would love a nice easy draw in the next round. Avoid the big boys…let’s have an easier match and hopefully progress to the quarter finals.

The drive home was insane. Took ages to get out of the car park, then I needed a pee just as we hit some traffic because of the snow near Huddersfield so I pulled off the motorway and nipped into a pub for a wee…when I came out, there had been an accident on the road to get back to the motorway so it ended up with me having to go right back to Saddleworth so I could come back the right way.

Great day! Looking forward to the draw tomorrow!

2016.1.29 – blowing in

The weather is starting to turn. You can feel it getting colder and windier in the air. Hope the game tomorrow isn’t too cold.

Getting through my rewatch of “Heroes” now. Over halfway through the first series. Will keep going. Wanna get them all watched

2016.1.28 – Really nothing

Seriously nothing really happened today. Nothing notable, nothing exciting.

One bloke at work told a new kid that he was a Vietnam veteran and the kid believed him…that’s about as exciting as today got.

I find that with a Thursday though. It’s just kinda there propping up the excitement that it’s Friday tomorrow. Bless Thursday!

2016.1.27 – 2 years service

Today I clocked up my 2 years service at ASDA. That has absolutely flown by. The amount I have learnt in that time too has been phenomenal.

I literally went in for an accounts assistant role but got brought back for a more technical role in the MI team. It wasn’t very MI so the team soon became known as “Enabling Technology”. My boss Mark coached me on how to create, design and code databases from the ground up…none of that wizard stuff now…this was the real magic.

Aside from the work I’ve had a lot of fun at ASDA. So much so I won the Team Player Of The Year award at the Christmas Finance Forum.

I’ve been to Shareholders once, and will be lucky enough to go again this year.

Had a great time and here’s to many more years.

Oh and to celebrate here’s me with the Vimto Toad in the atrium today

2016.1.25 – The Royal Rumble loses it’s crown

The below post contains spoilers for the Royal Rumble 2016…if you ain’t seen yet, don’t read on.

I’ve always been a fan of the Royal Rumble since I was a kid. One of the guys who lived on our street would videotape the then-WWF and bring me the tapes to watch the day after it had been on Sky TV.

I remember watching the 1992 Rumble, Ric Flair with his bloodied hair winning the title, something that had not been on the line in this match since…until this weekend.

Roman Reigns walked into the Rumble with the title knowing he was going in at #1 and would have to work the entire match…and there the scriptwriting ended.

The Rumble saw the appearance of AJ Styles, coming in at number 3 and giving him a good wedge of time to lap up the WWE atmosphere…but there the surprises ended…

What happened over the next 60-odd minutes was a very wrestling-by-numbers match. Groups came in together, there were a couple of run ins, the League Of Nations took out Roman Reigns early doors allowing him to do the big comeback later on just after the 29th man came out…and then, oh, here comes Triple H to screw over Roman Reigns, win the rumble and win the title.

For me, the Rumble lacked anything new and edgy. It lacked big pop moments where someone returned from injury early, or someone screwed someone over right at the very end by appearing and setting up a Mania match with someone who didn’t win.

We did get the whole Brock/Bray thing rolling…but I don’t know if I can get excited over HHH potentially holding the title all the way to Wrestlemania, just to give himself another big Mania match.
