OK, I know…you’re all saying “HOW HAVE YOU NEVER WATCHED ALADDIN!” I know it’s shocking that this film came out in 1992…thats 26 years ago…and I hadn’t watched it all until today!

Sure, I knew the songs and the basic storyline, but nothing else. I didn’t know anything about the lion coming out of the sand and Jafar sending Aladdin into the cave to retrieve the lamp, I knew nothing about Jafar wanting to marry Jasmine and I knew nothing about what the Third wish was!

I did know the songs. So I could happily tap my feet along to “Never had a friend like me” or the amazing “A Whole New World”.

Lets face it, Robin Williams was perfect as the Genie. Absolute genius casting, his frantic nature and attitude lent itself to that character perfectly. The Genie is the real star of the film and it’s interesting that he doesn’t feature for a fair length of time.

I am massively glad I saw this now. Great film and I will probably end up seeing it loads and loads more.
