Leeds game today. Playing Leicester who were sat at the top of the table. Our recent results meant everyone was pointing in the way of an annihilation.
A few of changes to the team saw Byram, Warnock, Michael Brown and Luke Varney start. The two new wingers were given their home debut too.
Kickoff and we got straight into them. Early chances went begging. A great cross from Varney onto McCormack’s head was thwarted by the post. Another one-on-one and McCormack couldn’t convert when the hand of Kasper Schmeichel kept the ball out. Tom Lees also missed a glorious opportunity with a free header but put the ball over the bar.
Leicester had a couple of chances too, hitting the post with one glorious opportunity.
Then the game slowed down somewhat. It turned into a more scrappy affair. But at the break it was 0-0
In the second half it was another scrappy battle. Lots of play around midfield. It was turning into something frustrating. After our early pressure, a goal didn’t look like it was coming…until the 87th minute when Nugent managed to squeeze a ball under Paddy Kenny to break the deadlock and make us pay for our missed chances earlier on.
It was a frustrating and annoying loss. We should have done better and got more out of the game. The main thing however is that it certainly was a better performance!
Back home after the game and I picked up my guitar. I hadn’t played it this week and needed to start progressing. I found a video on YouTube of a guy teaching chords. I started with the E and A chords and put them together to form a song which I played along to.
I played until my fingers were hurting. It felt good though. Will get a few more hours in tomorrow!
