073/2014 : Titanfall

Yay!

Titanfall arrived today. Didn’t get chance to play it though. I did install it! Lawlor got his Xbox One so we were messing about with Skype and then when I had installed Titanfall he was online wanting a race on Forza so we did that instead.

Won’t et chance to play it much tomorrow either. Going down to that there London to see Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. Can’t wait

072/2014 : Back in fantasy land

Yesterday a retro gaming pad arrived.

So now Final Fantasy 7 is getting a battering on the laptop. It’s one that’s easy to play whilst Elle is watching shows like America’s Next Top Model and I am pretending not to watch it. Haha.

Had a surprise this morning. Amazon email about my Titanfall order. I ordered from Amazon because it was a fiver cheaper than everyone else. When it charged me today though, I was charged another fiver less as Amazon had reduced their prices! Bonus!

That should be here tomorrow. Can’t wait!

071/2014 : Flying solo

Work.

Hard at it today. The guy who had been training me up has gone on holiday leaving me to fend for myself. I think I managed to do OK on my first day. Hopefully it all stays like that for the next 8 working days!

Watched The Following. It’s certainly going very slow this season. Hopefully it is building up to something big. I hope they’re not just stretching it out because they can.

070/2014 : Papering over the cracks at Elland Road

Back to Elland Road tonight following the mauling we received at the hands of Bolton at the weekend during the 5-1 loss. The idea was that we would have “Bounce-back-ability”against Reading and be able to come out all guns blazing and put the past behind us. We had five changes to the team too, with everyone’s favourite scapegoat Jimmy Kebe not even allowed anywhere the team, much to the delight of 95% of Leeds fans who booed him off the pitch just three days ago.

So we were all set to bring back the type of football which crowned our fine stadium “Fortress Elland Road” a few years back…and then the game kicked off!

First of all, the kickoff was late due to an accident on the motorway…we should have known then that those who couldn’t make it would be the lucky ones.

It started off pretty boring. Nothing really doing for either teams. No real pressure going forward and certainly no belief that we were able to get back to winning ways.

So it came as no surprise that we became our own worse enemies again on 25 minutes. A badly played backpass from Zaliukas followed by both Jason Pearce and Jack Butland to seem unable to decide who was going to get rid of the ball gifted the ball to McCleary who put the ball into the empty net.

We looked poor and looked again like we were not going to be able to create much in the way of goalscoring opportunities,

The half finished 1-0 to Reading…the same scoreline that the game on Saturday was at the same point in the game…surely it wasn’t going to go that way again…

The second half started and just a minute into it a freekick was given away to Reading who curled a very well taken shot into the goal. It was the side of the goal Butland was meant to be covering but he just didn’t get anywhere near it.

And just a couple of minutes later, we were 3-0 down. A free header and a third goal.

By now, the Leeds heads were dropping. We were playing with zero passion and conviction and everyone looked defeated. I noticed that McCormack wasn’t moving out of his centre-forward position at all throughout the game. He normally likes to move around and have more play of the ball but it just wasn’t happening. Was this something he had been explicitly told to do?

On 54 minutes, Reading scored a 4th.

The Leeds fans were now really getting on the back of the players. Something certainly wasn’t right.

But a glimmer of hope in the 63rd minute as substitute Matt Smith scored. Could it be possible?

All of a sudden…we looked lively. McCormack went into a more free role and wanted it more and just a minute later, Rudy Austin scored a screamer of a goal…2-4…would we be able to pull of a miracle?

Five minutes before, we were the worst team in the world, the manager wanted sacking and every player on the pitch needed selling to a non-league team…but now, all of a sudden there was hope and chances. We started creating and making chances and the belief was there and………

….and all this was just papering over the cracks. Yes, we had a good ten-fifteen minute spell…but on the whole, the performance of the team was absolutely woeful and atrocious. The defence were non-existent, too many long balls were played whilst McCormack was up front and it wasn’t working. Too many long balls were kicked straight out of play. Zero effort from anyone out wide. McCormack wasn’t in the game for most of it and it was an absolute embarrassment to watch.

Just because we scored two goals does not make up for the fact that around 80 of the 90 minute game we were piss-poor.

The two goals spared the team more boos, prevented any “McDermott Out” chants and generally gave false hope.

And on the case of McDermott, we were saying around us at the game that McDermott won’t get sacked. GFH Capital can’t afford to sack him and Cellino ain’t in charge yet…so he’ll be there…but whose fault is it? Manager? Players?

Who knows…but one thing for sure is that if something doesn’t change very quickly, we’ll be seeing sub 17k crowds all the way to the end of the season.

Still…we’ll be there…Marching On Together!

069/2014 : Driving fun

Got chance to play plenty of Forza tonight. I love it. I am rubbish at it though. I am doing OK in career mode and have nearly managed gold in half of the first championship set of races. I have vowed not to move onto the end championship until I complete this one.

Playing online is a whole other beast. I liken me going up against an online racer akin to me stepping into my Ford Fiesta against Sebastian Vettel in his F1 car. No chance. I am just happy not to get lapped during the race!

Watched this week’s Walking Dead. The second half of this season just all feels like a big set up for the next season. They’re all heading towards some kind of sanctuary.

Dodgers drew 8-8 tonight in another Spring Training match. Uribe and Ethier launched home runs in the first innings though which was good to see.

068/2014 : Lie in

Had a lie in today. Mmmmm was so nice to not have to hop out of bed at an early hour for once.

Started clearing down some of the stuff on the Sky planner and watched A Time To Kill. Ain’t watched it in years.

Just ha a generally lazy day. Played Forza against a group of Americans who totally wiped the floor with my arse (or ass) online.

067/2014 : Forza Leeds United

What a mixed bag of a day.

Started early doors and completed Call Of Duty Ghosts on the Xbox One. It was good to get to the end of the campaign mode. I need to play it more online though now.

Forza 5 arrived too. Manage to get the career mode started on that before heading out to the football. Forza is fantastic. The graphics alone are phenomenal. I wanna just keep playing it!

Went to the Leeds game. The less said about that the better. 5-1 loss we suffered. It was embarrassing

Went to a party this evening. It was fancy dress.

066/2014 : The Host With The Most

Friday at work and it was time for the afternoon huddle fun game of Standup/Sitdown bingo. I hosted the game. I was pleased I pulled out 88 so I could say Two Fat Ladies Or Men. I was hoping on 50 coming out so I could shout five-oooooo in the style of the Seven Dwarves. Maybe next time.

Had a nice little win yesterday on a freebie bet so today I bought Forza 5 and pre-ordered Titanfall for the Xbox One. Can’t wait to play both of those.

065/2014 : Stone Cold! Stone Cold! Stone Cold!

Watched a documentary tonight all about Stone Cold Steve Austin and his career. It was absolutely fantastic.

The one thing that annoys me about it all was that I missed a lot of the best stuff. I came back to the WWE in 2000 so my first Wrestlemania back was 17. I missed a lot of the Stone Cold vs Rock stuff and the rise of Stone Cold. It’s good to be able to watch documentaries like this and enjoy it all fresh, and also relive the times I do remember watching.

Stone Cold was one of the best performers ever. He was amazing on the mic, and in ring…hell, I even loved the Invasion stuff!

064/2014 : Lent me your ears

I ain’t a religious person. I don’t go to church other than occasions that call for it. But lent is a cheeky little one. It’s an excuse to start a diet. I’ve abolished chocolate, crisps and takeaways for it. Hopefully it will be the kickstart I need to get a bit healthier. It’s a long time though…will it last? Time will tell. Hopefully having a blog will make me feel guilty.

When I got in from work tonight I saw the chocolate in the fridge but resisted. I saw the crisps on top of the fridge and resisted. I saw about another eighteen pizza menus through the letterbox. I still resisted.

Day one. Done!
