Page 244/365 : Musicality

Dodgers won again last night! Nicely done.

Cooked breakfast before watching Monsters University which was really funny.

Then Elle needed to do something odd with jars of lemon curd (don’t ask). So whilst she was doing that we watched out first musical of the day in Rock Of Ages which I love.

After that we put on Chicago.

It’s been a musical kind of day really

Forgot to do this from yesterday.

Leeds Vs QPR today at Elland Road. QPR are one of the favourites to go up this year.

They certainly didn’t play like contenders but neither did we. McCormack was a bright spark in the team, as was Austin, and we certainly contained their front two men too. But we need a goal outlet desperately.

Page 242/365 : Ross McCormack, is not for sale!

Well it’s official. After months and months of the obligatory “Will he? Won’t he?” speculation about Ross McCormack’s future at Elland Road and Leeds United, Ross is staying.

Despite the striker coming out and saying he didn’t want to go anywhere, and constant downplaying by the Baldy Boss, Leeds fans still thought it was all going to go the way it has been so many times before and the Scot would be down the road (or up the A1 in Middlesborough).

But today, this happened :

Pen to paper on a new 4 year deal! Brilliant.

So naturally we’re all going to be chanting that “We Want Messi!” at the game tomorrow.

Early kickoff vs QPR. James can’t go so I will be going with my Dad instead.

MOT!

Page 241/365 : Two Bookmarks

Wow.

For the first time ever, I have to use two bookmarks in a book. House Of Leaves is mental. I had to jump back to the Appendix but the section of the appendix was about 60 pages long!

I don’t own a bookmark so I am improvising with my Season Ticket card covering letter split in two.

Itching to get back to the Kindle. Books are annoying!

Page 240/365 : Derek Dog & Dodger Dog

Work dragged today. One of the girls is off sick so it’s causing a few problems.

Picked up Derek from his grandma’s before nipping for some Hot Dogs after work for tea. It was Dodgers Vs Cubs at Dodger Stadium. As I type this, the Dodgers are 4-0 up in the bottom of the 7th.

Vin Scully was on commentary, which is always nice as he knows his stuff and tells some cracking stories.

I have started to read this :

20130828-072505.jpg

It’s a strange and scary book all related to an odd film and an old man’s studies of it before meeting his demise. I have never read any horror…and this is playing with my mind big time. I love it!

Leeds went to Doncaster in the cup and won 3-1 which was amazing as it was what I predicted on my football predictor. Onto the next round then!

Page 238/365 : Recovered

Had a decent night’s sleep which was needed.

Woke up and watched the replay of the Dodgers game from last night. It was the third in a currently tied series with the Redsox. I had a bet with a mate. He’s a Redsox fan. Dodgers lost…miserably…not quite sure how that puts us for heading into the playoffs as it will be one hell of a knock to confidence, but we’ll see how it goes.

Chilled out all day. Watched Dexter, Celebrity Big Brother and a tonne of CSI…we’re still back on Season 5!

Page 236/365 : Gangsters & Gals

Headed over to Wales for a Gangsters & Gals party at Lawlor’s.

We were staying at Ash & Jess’ so went their first. They have two little dogs who were proper cute. Then we or ready and headed out. The theme was “Gangsters & Gals” but Ash n Jess for a laugh dressed up as “Gangstas”.

It was a cracking night. Ordered £162-worth of pizza from Pizza Hut, about three stuffed crusts knowing their prices 😉

Jess and I did a cracking Grease Megamix rendition.

Back at Ash n Jess’ we were all pole dancing (or attempting to whilst drunk) which was funny.

Page 235/365 : Arise Ben Fucking BatFleck!

Awoke this morning to this news, setting me up for a day of pondering WHY?

20130823-201438.jpg

Yes….Ben Affleck is to be the next Batman…….cue massive fan-boy/girl cringing worldwide.

Someone on my Facebook told it straight, whilst half the world are thinking “why would Ben Affleck, a guy known for thought-provoking films like Argo, become the next Batman”, whilst the other geekier half of the world is screaming WHY? GOD-DAMMIT WHYYYYYYY?

Lets lay this out…Ben Affleck is NOT Batman. He will be Batman, that seems apparent now, but there’s a lot that needs to be done to transform him into the lovable multi-millionaire renegade that is Bruce Wayne.

Adam West was Batman for a comic book era, Michael Keaton was a Tim Burton Batman, Val Kilmer and George Clooney ruined the Caped Crusader….and then Christian Bale breathed a tonne of life back into a character which had become laughable. So when Bale announced he wasn’t doing anything beyond Dark Knight Rises, naturally a list was drawn up.

And somewhere near the bottom of that list, below the likes of Simon Pegg, Dale Winton, Noel Edmonds and Graham Norton, was Ben Affleck.

Ben Fucking Affleck. An actor who has about as much emotional depth as a puddle of vomit. He was alright in films like Dogma, Mallrats and Anything With Matt Damon, but the new Batman? Really?

Has all the hard work that Christian Bale did to bring some credibility back to Batman gone completely to waste? The early backlash would suggest that most fans think the same as me…yes.

Time will tell. Maybe Affleck will pile on the muscle, and turn up the smarminess, but I serious doubt it.
